Dark Age quality?

As mentioned in another post, I am a huge Rackham fan looking for \"Rackham surrogates\" (sort of -- I\'m also just wanting to find quality miniatures of different styles). I have come across Dark Age miniatures and liked some of what I see -- although, like Hell Dorado, they seem excessively (indulgently) dark and I only see myself picking up a few figures at most. I am wondering about the quality of the actual pewter figures: $15 for a 64mm figure seems like a pretty good price these days, so I wanted to make sure the figures themselves are well-made (and actually metal and not resin or plastic).

The one I have seemed fine to me - nice detail, went together well, good casting. Well, it was until I got my hands on her and chopped her up a bit! And metal, since you asked. I appreciate that you probably need more than one data point tho! lol

They are metal. The casting quality is ok. Not the best I\'ve seen, but certainly not the worst either.

Thanks, both. I kind of wish \"boutique\" miniature companies would show pictures of the actual metal figure because it is difficult to say what you are getting when the one they show was painted by a ridiculously good painter like Alex Z; or, in the case of showing just the greens (Avatars of War) it looks better and more detailed than the actual metal because the casting doesn\'t match the original sculpt.

they\'re bigger in hand than you ever expect.. quality is ok just not a big fan .. picked up a few and not had any problemswith them just not to my taste although I have been tempted on a few occassions to pick up the one in the link.. could make a nice daemonc herald of nurgle with a little tinkering....

There are a lot of enjoyable DA figs.

My favorites will always be the Dragyri, but lots of the Forsaken figures have been very helpful in filling out my Demonhunter Inquisitor retinues;)

The casting is good, and the metal is solid, unlike a lot of the softer alloys that seem to be floating around these days.

As far as more pictures of pre-painted metal, that would definitely be helpful. I had some commission pieces that were nightmare from a few companies. The buyer saw these neat painted figures on the website, only to find out that they were too fragile or too soft to possibly be shipped!
