Hey everyone,
This is the first completed miniature for my new Dark Angels army, a Dark Angels Scout.
It is also my first miniature painted with Vallejo Paints, and i found them alot easier to use than the craft paints i use to use.

it looks nice man. nice clean job overall, but I think this piece could use some more shading everywhere as the final highlights and the shading are really close chromatically. voted too:beer:

It came together nicely in the end Sir. I think the gun is still too bright for my liking, but that\'s personal preference. I just feel a sniper shouldn\'t have a gun painted in a colour that can be spotted from a mile away! Also, the bit sticking out of the front of it (next to the skull) is the ammunition unless I\'m very much mistaken, so it should probably be a different colour.

The armour and metals look good, and the goggle specs work well. The face could use some deeper shading for sure, as could the bone parts.

I have to praise the gun strap in particular though, it\'s really nice!

lovely model - a whole squad/army would look fantastic painted to this level. i agree that the shading could be taken a level further but thats my opinion

Thanks for all the comments guys, it helps alot.
I agree with all three of you, the shading could definately be taken a level further, the main reason i didnt was that the paints i was using to shade with decided to have a mental and start to seperate etc, but ive fixed that now so i will go back over him and give everything some more shading.

@Lono: Concerning the amunition area, thats mainly down to my 40K newbness, as i havnt painted any 40K thus far i didnt really know what it was, i\'ll have to go back to that part. As far as the red is concerned, i mainly went for the colour to tie the army together, but i see what you mean, it probably would have been better a different colour, im now thinking of whether to re-do it in a more natural and under-cover colour, any ideas?

Thanks again guys,
SirJD

Taking in what everyone said i have gone over him and re-worked most areas adding more highlighting/shading and tidying him up, i will have the new pics tomorrow.

Hi everyone,
Here are the new pics with the revisions i have made. Ive taken the highlights and shading on most things a few levels higher and darkened the goggles/lens.

The little extra hilighting helped a lot. These guys are criminally underrated if you ask me.

Thanks for that Jericho, took a bit of inspiration from yours truly.
I try not to worry too much about the rating, mainly the comments, as i like to think i learn more about painting miniatures with words rather than numbers.

Thanks again,

I love your work and you show a huge amount of potential for your age and the relative short time you have been painting is amazing.
I agree with the Jericho your stuff is way underrated. This is clean neat work and the subtle blending is awesome and probably cant be really appreciated unless seen for real, don’t let the voters get you down, I for one cant wait to see what you have planned for the future.

Really nice work, but Im still dead set against the red weapons, especially on whats meant to be a trooper whos trying to stay hidden.

Thanks for all the comments and votes guys.
@Bengoodall: I agree, the red weapon is a little out of place, the main reason i used the colour was to tie the army together more. I guess its one of those things you either love or hate.

Thanks again,
SirJD

Good job, nice clean work, for me, you need to pick out the guys lower and upper lip, I can\'t see what\'s going on there.
I hate red weapons, but you\'ve pulled it off here, works with the rest of the colours.
