Dark eldar WIP

Just started a new WIP, i will continue my ogre army WIP don't worry and here the link for the ones who didn't see it yet

So i am back with some dark eldar my first 40k army. So i wanted to get some feeling about dark eldar so i picked up dark eldar lhamaean to have a try. So here my first pictures. The plan is to follow GW color schemes to see if i can reach the same level. I will add some freehand on the cloak.

What do you think? I have some trouble highlighting the cloak? Any ideas?

The freehand is nice! The only thing you could maybe do to improve it is to thin down the lines just a smidgeon, and up the contrast (so the lightest bits of freehand look whiter/more zingy). One comment I'd make on the mini in general is that it's a bit busy, colour wise. There's blue, green, purple, red and flesh tones in there. I daresay you're not inclined to go back and re-colour this one, but maybe colour choice could be something to think about for future projects? Regardless, this is a solidly painted mini with nice freehand and NMM.

Thank you me_in_japan. I will see if I can make the line a bit thinner. The color choice were made by GW, I wanted too see if I could copy a painted mini from GW... It is true that the colors choices are often based on maximum contrast, for table top, dark background so easy highlight on the edges only... I am not painting since a long time, so still exploring different style... Next step I would like to try is a "monochrome" mini, with a constant color just shadowed and highlighted a bit differently.

Ok, not so much comment on the thread, indeed it was not really exciting. But nevertheless the mini is finished and I am quite happy with the results. Mission was to copy GW style, and it seems quite ok!

This mini looks great sir! I can appreciate it all the more after looking at some of the Dark Eldar minis and know how small they are! The free hand is very nice. I think you have an Eavy Metal style from a few years back...colourful and bright which is now quite unique. The only thing I can see to critique is some of your highlights on the black seem quite jumpy and I am not a fan of the red and blue pipes on the base. The pipes just add too many colours and are very strong and in your face.

Thanks Iateyourbanana, I am not discouraged by the lack of comments. I was not ironic about my thread not being exciting, it is quite true. I am still painting even after a year, I am still into it. I really enjoy doing it quite relaxing and at least there is an result you can share!

Thank you for your comment. In a way I copied Eavy Metal style. It is true for the highlights, I was trying to paint the mini within a certain time, actually try to paint faster to get good enough results. I didn't spend enough time to the highlights! For the pipes, they are bit distracting, the base was done in less than an hour that's maybe one of the reason.
