Dark Elves

I\'ve been playing 40k fer bout 10 years now. Recently I\'ve been looking at WFB and I think I\'m catching the bug. I\'ve taken a liking to the Dark Elf line of minis. I have just a couple of questions. How are the WFB rules for ease of learning? And with the Dark Elves I\'m curious about the armies general strengths and weaknesses. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The basic rules set for fantasy is a little more complicated than that of 40k, but after a few games you should have the hand of it. Now with all the little 40k additions, there are a lot less rules in fantasy.

The Dark elves themeselves are a whole lot manueverable than the rest of fantasy races, sans the skaven, with a base infantry of 5....which really is a huge advantage as you will come to realize. The dark elves themselves are very delicate, particularly their characters who are only toughness 3, which is very low, but they have unbeleivable leadership. Damn elves. Their sorcerresses get +1 to cast spells, again a massive advantage, and have access to some very potnt magic items. The core units of the dark elves are Dark riders, corsairs, and warriors. For block infantry I suggest the corsairs, for archer support take warriors with repeater crossbows (a very nasty piece of kit), and the ever useful dark riders. Basicaly if you keep in mind that you are faster, have better missile options, you should be fine. Just remember to avoid head on fights...Dark elves can take damage about as well as Eldar can.:flip::bouncy:

Is it just me, or did the Dark Elves get a facelift recently? If they did, they should be a good choice, being good-looking models, with (hopefully) updated rules.

Can\'t say for sure though, cause anything that doesn\'t have something to do with dwarves just flies right past me.

Yeah, they got a few obvious fixes to the list. Executioners got their Heavy armor, Beast masters got the appropriate equipment, the cauldron got a little protection for the crew (now the missle attacks are randomized per warmachine rules) and a little more powerful, Nothing serious really:flip::bouncy:

Thanks Taer and Nelson, I appreciate your information.

I\'m going to get myself to the local shop and see if I can get a couple demo games in. There\'s a lot of 40k players, but I think the owner is versed in WHFB.
