Dark Mechanicus "counts as Riptide" Conversion

Hey guys, I'm working on a 'counts as tau' army using dark mechanicus converted models to ally with my chaos space marines. This is my first riptide and I'm entering it into a conversion contest on spikey bits. Please check out my model, I'd love to get the community's feedback! This reminds me of the movie "Virus" back in 1999.. man, has it been 14 years?
I feel old now.
Great job, but gotta ask since I've been out of the 40k rules loop- what's the plasma shield thing stand for?
