The Gallery submissions are all submissions counted towards the contest of which one will be selected for the front cover of Volume 2. There will be a prize for 1st and 2nd place winners. We will post further detailed information on our website on Oct 1 for the contest.

However, those that are submitting in articles will receive a copy of the book as compensation.

To be quite honest I am insulted that you are asking for people to volunteer submissions and giving nothing in return.
From what I have been told your not even paying people for the articles they write.

If you were doing this not for proifit then I would totaly be on your side. However your just trying to make a buck for free off our work. Oh and those who win, wht do they get...Wow a copy of your magazine!!!

You did do a wonderful job with your first issue, but if your going to charge 30 again for this, you better be giving something back to the painting community.

For those that are submitting articles to us, they do receive a copy of the book as payment. We are not trying to rip any one off by just taking articles. Artists that want to contribute to the hobby and share their ideas have had no problems with this.

As for the Gallery section, no we are not offering any payment for submissions. This is simply to have your miniature showcased in a publication and give inspiration to others, similar to Harbinger.

We are trying to make something that is useful for the painting community, help manufacturers showcase their miniatures, give more exposure to artists, etc.

We make every effort to give credit where credit is due, by listing all contact info and website addresses.

By the way, if anyone knows how expensive it is to print a full color book like this for a small business then you guys will know there\'s not much of a profit from it :)

Thanks for all you support so far!

For me your book one helped a great deal. I enjoyed it and will buy book two. If I submit pictures I am a lowly painter and it is a cheap thrill to get in print my family loves it as well. I like the fact you look for input along the way and do not get offended when it is given. You have come to this forum on a regular basis to see what we would want and it is rare to be catered by any manufacture. I love seeing the articles of the painters I think a book is great payment but it seems the honor is also great to have others wish to share your formula of painting.

I did an article for vol. 1 and will do one for vol. 2 as well, and I don\'t feel the slightest bit ripped off. Trying to put down my techniques and methods on paper in an organised way, so that someone else could follow, actually helps me get to grips with what the essence of my techniques really is! So writing is rewarding both for myself and hopefully others as well.

*laugh*

I honestly cant believe that people are bitching about not being payed for submitting articles! Why bother submitting images to CMON? Or display minis in LGS cabinets? Its all about kudos and in the long run its free advertising for those people who may have studios

I personally get a real kick out of seeing my stuff in print, and intend to support this publication as i did the first one. I worked in publishing for a number of years and know the time and cost involved in producing a high quality publication such as this, and while I (like any consumer) would like lower prices, I am willing to pay whats asked.

And finally, if you dont want to submit anything dont, same with purchasing the book, but I dont think it is right to suggest that the Darkson guys are shafting us in some way.

Hang on... article writers get a free copy...? I\'d best get writing ;)

I think there would a line of very talented painters willing to write up an article for NO compensation, not even a free book!

I could do an article on how not to paint :) No seriously i would like to do something but i think theres alot, well all you folks that would better explain things than me. Whens the deadline for submissions?

Edited* okay i have now read all the posts (silly me) 1st of Dec
