Day off!

I had a horrible migraine today :D Flickering in my left eye during assembly, 45 minutes of headachey art painting a red-eyed tree frog\'s eye onto a canvas, then a run through the packed corridors to vomit in a sink. Not bad for a school day all in all, although I\'m annoyed about missing rugby.

Anyway, I\'m home now and after sleeping for 2 and a half hours with my cat sitting on my foot, I have a day of sunshine and painting ahead of me, and I\'m getting my gecko tomorrow. Woohoo!

Also need to set up my third fish tank to grow out 27 Lamprologus ocellatus fry. They\'re six weeks old now :)

I HATE migraines! I had one once that came on so fast that I thought I was having a stroke. Glad you feel better.

Fish pic is beautiful. 27? Going to sell them or keep them? Oh, and what kind of gecko? I had a house gecko for a while. He was great fun to watch.

Cheers guys  Did a bit of painting, then went to the park with my friends. Good stuff.

The baby fish will be sold at about 3 months. I really need to get round to ordering a heater for the new tank, they\'ve already started trying to kill each other lol

The gecko is a crested gecko. The one I reserved looks something like this:

Well, every cloud has a silver lining Bill.

I didn\'t used to \'believe\' in migraines until I got one (cue Professor Frink) with the sickness and the vomiting and the excruciating pain... I soon changed my tune

They are really horrible :( I recognised the sign of flickering distortion in my left eye (I had that last time) and thought oh bollocks! A migraine! Luckily I don\'t get them very often, and I can basically sleep them off in a couple of hours. The next day, I feel absolutely fine. Some people get migraines that last for days on end

About the eye flickering, is that a symptom of a migraine? Because I\'ve been getting that eye flicker a lot lately but I can\'t directly associate that with any migraines I\'ve had.

It can be, not always though. A migraine preceded by lights, spots, or flickers, or loss of vision, is called a \"migraine with aura\". You can also have speech problems, numbness or pins and needles, or even get an aura where you smell something that isn\'t there. Or you can have \"migraine without aura\" which doesn\'t have any of that stuff, but still causes the headaches, nausea etc. Often people have both types of migraine at different times. Fun, eh? lol I personally always get a crescent-shaped distortion in my left eye, which I can\'t focus on but flickers at the edge of my vision, followed by severe pain in the right hand side of my head, slurred speech, and nausea and/or vomiting.

I noticed you still haven\'t responded as to who the avatar is...???

Did you take the picture yourself? Very nice quality, same as the ones on your site.

try Migraleave, comes in pink and yellow tablets. You take two pink ones at the first sign of the flickering and if you catch it soon enough it kills the migraine off.

If it still persists you take the yellow ones every 4 hrs, they work wonders for me, i only very rarely get migraines (like once every 2 months) but i carry the tablets because they fix it every time.

Their over the counter chemist stuff although check with doc first.

Thank you. If you mean the nice lady, no, I didn\'t take that photo. I took the fish photo though lol

Her identity shall remain a secret...

I recognise her from somewhere on tinterweb, not sure where though...

Nice fish, my mate has two tanks of tropic fish (one babbies on big), they are getting pretty big. I like the ones where you can see the internal organs the most.

I also had the day (not cos i was ill though), but becuase i am in college (yay), so every friday is painting day!

Sorry about the migraines Bill I know what a pain they are or can be. You are fortunate in that you have learned the signals and are prepared for what happens.
For me I\'ve learned that once I get the precursor to the Flashing lights (sort of like an increase in the area of the Blindspot in my vision) I can control the effects on me by immediatly taking a couple of Paracetamol which reduces the migrane to a dull constant headache. Still need to find quiet though.

Kaine\'s mentioned Migraleave which is relativly effective for some, but if you consider it discuss it with your doctor first as it contains Magnesium, Ritofilin (?spelling) and Feverfew. It\'s not suitable for everyone especially if you have a stomach condition as the magnesium can effect other medication for acidity control/balance.

Once I stopped hitting my head with a hammer I found that my headaches suddenly ceased! Who would have thought? Not much help, but if you are ever tempted to do it, don\'t even start! :D
