Dealing with Air bubbles in Resin

Alrite guys, iv bought a nice 1/10th resin bust the other month, iv started working on it but iv noticed their a literally a hundred or so tiny little are bubbles in the cast that really risk compromising the paintjob. Iv been watering down milliput and using the \'juices\' off it to smooth the areas out, but its taking an eternity, anyone got any quicker suggestions i can try out?

how about making the milliput juice a bit thicker, that should speed it up a bit!!!

Apoxie sculpt is another good option. It\'s soft to work with, but much easier to blend with the surface of a model than green stuff.

Depending on the shape of the surface, you can take the putty you\'re using, flatten it out into a tiny sheet with your fingers, put it on the bubbly area and press it in, smooth and flatten it out further. Don\'t expect to get it perfect at this stage. You want to over putty it a hair and once the putty sets up then sand down to the finished surface.

Return to maker if possible! That quality of casting isn\'t good enough.

if i had actually sat down and took a proper look at the casting i would have returned it straight away, but i cleaned it up a bit then put it to one side for a while, so a bit late to return it, i wont be makin that mistake again!

cheers for the responses guys, iv been using magic sculpt (thanks DH) to fill in some of the gaps and spread over some areas that have been roughed up, the milliput is working quite well also.

iv had to put it down though, got other stuff to work on, managed to get most of it done, just most of the feathers for his helmet are in a poor state

Have you tried Vallejo Plastic Putty ? It\'s a bit like Milliput juice, maybe slightly thicker, and ideal for smoothing on by finger. It was originally designed for fine-filling the joins on model aircraft wings.

it\'s far better suited to gap filling on vehicles than minis (used it a bit myself as well)

Ah cool - thank you I must admit, I\'ve mostly used it on vehicles & spacecraft myself, which tend to have nice flat surfaces. So you\'re probably right about using it on figures - where I\'ve used it, it\'s tended to be on simpler areas....

If its a ForgeWorld model then try contacting them. I got in contact with them 2 years after a purchase and had no hassles with getting a couple of replacement pieces for a model - that\'s providing you bought it mail order and they have your purchase on file.
