I had a job interview near Port of LA once. I was living in Temecula at the time.
Even if they\'d offered me the job I wouldn\'t have taken it just because of the traffic.

There was something like 8 lanes each way and it was standstill traffic around 10:00 am!
I never witnessed any shootings though, nor any wrecks. Hard to imagine there could be wrecks since no one ever seemed to get above 5mph.

only shot at twice? lucky, so far its been 4 times for me....2 of which i didnt know where the gunman was or why...

That being said, you\'ll be away from your family for a good long while, you are still in a hostile enviroment, and the conditions aren\'t the most pleasent. The pay is rather good though, and it might open up some other avenues for you.

All of which is extremely true - the only difference between the military and us contractors is they have guns and we make more money. Other than that we all share bad conditions, sand, and a chance of random death.

My dad was a Seabee too! But he spent his tour of duty building airstrips in the Philippines during World War 2.

Sorry for the delay... was talking to recruiting officers most of yesterday. All that\'s left is the Air Force, but his answering machine said they basically weren\'t taking anybody right now.

Well, it\'s not all about the pay. The only reason i even considered the military is because i have a few high school friends in the Marines and man, i\'ve got nothing for respect for them and the work they\'re doing. But, unlike them, i don\'t enjoy being shot at outside a paintball game. So that\'s why, if i am going to Iraq, i\'d want to be WELL trained. Right now it looks most likely that i\'ll be joining the Navy. As for being shot at... don\'t worry about me. i\'ll be in a building with no windows doing Intelligence Specialist work (Navy Spook).

Seems like a great job for me with cross training that i can use in the CIA/FBI/civilain sector. i\'m getting pretty excited for it, but still looking at my other options.

As for what would become of Fish-Dog... hmmm... hadn\'t thought of that, but there is mail service to ships and if i\'m at home that\'s no problem too. So as long as i\'m not in BMT or A school or secondary school or cross training... we\'re good to go still. You\'re learning to sculpt, right Ari?lol

Good to hear Itchy. As for what the chair Force told you thats about right - one of the guys I work withs daughter decided to enlist in the chair force and it took almost 6 months.
