Deathskull Ork Update 04/01

[Doctor Doom]

I have a couple of squads in my Ork army so far. Right now I\'m taking a break and looking to improve the quality of my single models. So of course I thought to come here and post. I\'ve been browsing for a long while, and reading posts here has helped me out in the past.

Right now I\'m happy with the blue and yellow. The skin has to be touched up in a few areas, and the metal has barely been started. If your wondering why he has marine bits on him, it\'s because the Deathskulls steal and scavenge for equipment.

But like I said, this place has helped me in the past, and I\'m hoping you\'ll give me some pointers

Yes i completely agree! I think you have the skintones down pat, but the metal could use some work. Search around for some techniques on here and im sure you will find one you\'ll like.

Looking good. As has been said, the yellow is spanking, and the blue\'s good too. All of these Ork WIPs are making me feel the need to do something greenskinned myself at the moment.

I\'m with lono. All of these orks are making me want to try painting something big, mean, and green (with bad teeth of course)!

i like the additions to him from the SM. the only thing i would check out is maybe a power source for the powerfist/Ork glove
other than that its sweet looking.

@BAT so you want to paint some brit rugby players huh .... well i guess they wouldn\'t be Green though lol

Perhaps Orks are too stupid to think of that, or perhaps this green guy just wants to use the fist as a \"outcha it hurt!\" glove? :beer:

Do orks play rugby? I would recommend padding for the other team...and nose plugs...

Really though, trying something other than human-type skin tones is something I\'m really interested in working on.

Doctor Doom: If you don\'t mind, what paints did you use for the green skin? I like the hulk-ish tone.

1. Dark Angels Green
2. Snot Green
3. Snot + Scorpion Green
4. The above + Elf Flesh

and then you can keep going to however bright you want it by adding more Elf Flesh. I hope it comes in handy

Hopefully I\'ll be able to update soon. I\'ve spent this weekend moving all my stuff from one room to another, including models, paints, etc. But I should have more done maybe Monday or Tuesday.

Great conv. I also like the skin colour you\'ve chosen, and the yellow is great. I love the Deathskulls because they beg for conversions and I will certainly follow this thread to see where you take your army.

Sorry for the late update. I\'ve been having computer troubles for the last little while. But here are the updated pictures.

I have to apologize for the photo quality. I\'m taking pictures in a new room now, so I\'ll have to experiment. If I get better results any time soon I\'ll be sure to edit this post.

The green, yellow and blue hasn\'t been touched since last time. I still feel I need to fix up the skin. I\'m happy with the colours, but the left arm is bugging me. I may just repaint that part of the skin entirely.

The big thing I\'ve done here is the metal. I\'m really happy with it. Most of the time I paint a layer of metallics, give it a wash and highlight. Here I\'ve experimented and put a bit more effort into, and I think it shows, at least against other models I have lying around. If you see anything wrong with it, or feel it could be improved in anyway, give a shout
