Decaying skin colors

Hello,

I am working on a figure with dead/dying skin and I wanted to know what are some colder colors that would work well for decaying skin?

I would like some pretty light, colder, colors for the skin and any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

what about using colours like greens, whites, greys colours like that ???

I\'ve had some success with using a base colour of some regular flesh tone (elf flesh, for instance) mixed with a little grey (mid-tone neutral grey). I then shade by adding black and highlight as usual, with either VMC Ivory or VMC Light Flesh. This will give you a very ashen and life-less skin colour. Then you can apply glazes to tweak the colour any way you want it.

@sg2009: The mini I am working on is a practice in glazing. Not glazing meaning thin juices of paint but glazes to create areas of interest and nuances. I was planning on going over the areas with greens, blues, purples, things like that. But I am having trouble deciding how I want to make the general basecoat, highlights and shadows.

@Ritual: So elf flesh with a little codex or fortress grey as a basecoat? That might be good. I am working on Wandyr the bloodthirsty which I know you have painted well. I use yours for inspiration I am trying to decide what colors to paint the dead body hanging by his belt.

Try using a normal flesh colour and then adding greens or blues into the shades and highlights? Shadow grey to shade and a little Ice blue in the higlights looks proper freaky.

Yep, that would work. Or even Shadow Grey as the blueish tint will work to your advantage here. I have no idea what I used on my Wandyr as it was too long ago I painted it. But I think you can get similar results with the method I described by glazing with some reds, purples and blues. If you want a less ashen look, use a dark brown for the shading instead of black.
