decent Matt varnish

over the years ive had many brand and types of Matt varnish. Some initially worked really well. Humbrol brand to name one that stands out in my head. But is there a \"proper\" way you guys approach this rather than just brushing it on. and, what sort of varnish do you use?

Although no product is ever perfect and absolutely flawless, Testors DullCote spray is pretty well considered the top of the line in matte coats.

daler rowny is a good brush on. otherwise, dull cote all the way
