ok...so ive been working on a uk demon entry for the monster catagory for a while now but have a question for you guys.
I cant reveal alot about what kind of mini it will be as i want it to be a suprise:) but i am at a total loss when it comes to his arms/weapons.
The model is standing in a relaxed pose as if it\'s standing on the edge of a cliff overlooking what\'s beneath him...i just can\'t figure out what to give him for a weapon(s)...a big axe in one hand?..or 2 smaller axes?...maybe a sword?...i\'l just say that he is pretty chaosy (is that a word?) i know it\'s a weird question but some input is always a good thing...so what would you guys do?...the main thing is i can\'t figure out what to do with his other hand if i give him a one handed sword/axe/mace....tnx

A frothy beverage in a tankard and a Hamlet cigar?

Seriously, you aren\'t giving us a lot to work with here!

Khorne - Axes - yes, yes, yes! Shields... pehaps. Swords, no way.
Slaanesh - A sword, shield, whip, nubile little bondage princess?
Tzeentch - Some sort of magic effect, mutated arm?
Nurgle - Big tower shield, dieseased arm, mace, tentacles.

Does any of this help at all? It\'s tough advising when we don\'t know what we are advising on.

I\'m partial to whips on demons myself. Something about all that red and black......well.....anyway, how about a whip and large knife? Coil the whip up at his feet.

sure sure you want it to be a surprise...but ya gotta get over that. The CMON community is here to help you out. Don\'t get so worried about someone stealing your idea. It is your skillz and vision that will shine. Your idea is in your head. My advice is that if you want to stay original and secretive the whole way through you don\'t ask for opinions.

you guys are right!, i\'ve been thinking about it and thought to myself : why be so secretive about my stuff, i am after all asking the people who are all about sharing ideas, tips and tricks and all that!:)...i\'ve been working on a chaos minotaur for about half a year now.
Its about a head taller then the old (very old thats why i wanted to make a new one) gw minotaur lord.
My basic plan was creating a mix between man and beast with more of the human parts showing through(rather then him just being a giant cow) he has the basic human body structure, and looks more like a giant beastman gor(used A LOT of anotomy books so im realy pleased with his proportions) he has those \"goat legs\'\'and hooves instead of just normal \"human\'\' feet and legs...anyway thats a bit more info on him as i mentioned before he has a relaxed pose with him being slightly bent forward and his head turned to the right as if he\'s overlooking whats beneath him (he\'s gonna get a nice cliff like base with thorny plants and slate sticking out of the ground to match his cruel nature...well thats where i\'m at now...he is a full sculpture and he just needs his arms before i get to paint him! (cant wait:) cheers!...(edit) btw he is \'undivided\'

It definately sounds intriguing, now comes the logical next question, are you going to show it to us? lol It\'s OK, you don\'t have to answer that one, I can understand wanting to keep it hidden until the big reveal.

It sounds to me like you have gone for a rather more natural looking Minotaur, which is cool. The mood of the scene also sounds like something that could be worked with and enhanced via the weapons. By this I mean that you could arm him with something torn from his natural environment. A thick gnarled tree, torn from the ground, with a rootball and some jagged rock still fixed to it to act as a club maybe? As well as that I think an axe is the classic weapon for the other hand.

Sounds like you have put a lot of work in it. But do you really want it to be undivided, cause with a mark you have more room to expand but it\'s your choise and i\'m just sugesting. And could we see some pics?

Definitely an axe in the right hand; a large primitive one. He\'s probably holding it close the axe head (easier to carry that way) if he\'s not actively fighting at the moment.

For the left hand, I like the tree idea, but how about a living tree? Or a twisted (maybe burned) trunk of a once-living tree? He\'s leaning against it, resting for a moment, surveying the landscape...

Great input here fella\'s.

I was thinking about the torn out tree/branch myself and have decided to arm his left hand with a crude/primitive looking mace (more like the weapon that comes with the plastic giant kit), loving the idea of him leaning/resting/holding on to a tree or mabe a jagged rock sticking out of the base...i think it\'s a good idea to let him interact more with his base as a lot of mini\'s i\'ve seen lately look good on there bases (colours match, nice use of vegetation/other scenic stuff etc etc) but only a few of the ones i\'ve seen actualy look to be alive on there base instead of just standing there and looking pretty :)...anyway i\'ve started to work a bit on the weapon arm and the base(i always get so into painting i forget the base :)) it\'s gonna be a jagged cliff edge sculpted the basic shape out of DAS clay, after drying shaped and sanded it down to a more \"stone\" like texture and shape, i\'ll add sharp pieces of slate, sticking out of the frosty ground to the base of the stone to give the scene a cold/cruel feel. Eventualy i will add thorny plants and some mountain top vegetation, as i want it to look like a frozen mountain peak/cliff i\'ll be adding a gletcher(?) and spikes of ice (not over-doing it here will be the trick:)) sticking from the ground and hanging from the cliff (it\'s a fantasy world after all :)) also i\'m gonna try a \"snow storm effect using clear glue and snow scatter...í have a feeling this could look freaking awsome if done right :), and then it would make more sense for a giant killing machine to be holding onto a tree/root/stone :) any way i hope i\'ll have some pics for you guys soon enough, till then tnx for any input, Cheers!

Sounds like you know what you doing mate, just go with what you thinks looks best and you like. After all, it has to be something you are enthusiastic about otherwise it won\'t turn out as good as it could. But by the sound of things it sounds like you are enjoying it. :)

Good luck with it, look forward to seeing it completed! ;)

Cheers,
Tom
