Demon winner up for grabs

Don\'t want to sound like a total dick or anything, maybe I don\'t deserve a say on the issue as I have contributed nothing to the previous charity drives on cmon (I do give to WSPA monthly and run a half marathon every year on behalf of various charities), but why is the money raised going to alleviate famine in the US? Surely there are more deserving charities.

(I\'m in no way anti-Americen btw, I just find this incomprehensable. I\'m suprised this charity even exists - isn\'t there a social security system there? I can\'t understand how anyone except crackheads are going hungry, and I\'m pretty sure they need less calories than the rest of us).

well Second Harvest is a food bank that helps not just folks on Social Security, but as I understand it lower income folks, homeless shelters, battered women/kid shelters, with food as well basic hygene stuff. So not all the money is going to \'crackheads\' and what not, but to folks that need the extra boost to get back on their feet. Something tells me also that they help out the Red Cross with diastater relef as well.

This just goes to show how nice person you are Stuart. Donating your first GD winner is something most people would never have been able to do.
I salut you for doing this, and realy hope everyone appreciated your decision.

Well done big hearted fella!;):D:D

@Dammekkos - The money from these auctions in particular are going to aid the hurricane victims through Second Harvest.

You say you help out various charities. Why ??? Isn\'t England a even more of a socialized state than the US? So of course that means there is absolutely no needy people there, right? Everyone has all the food they need? All the clothes they need? All the money they need? It\'s just crackheads, drunks and lazy slobs that don\'t, right?

Yeah, I must say that agree with you on this Supervike.

@Dammekkos2
My understanding of this charity organisation is that the money raised goes to the victims of the Hurricane Katrina natural disaster. Much like the Paint Aid charity which raised money for the victims of the Tsunami victims in SE Asia.

I think that anyone who gets off the sofa and does all of the work etc needed to run a charity deserves much credit. Also, the people who donate miniatures to this cause also obviously have a good heart.

Unfortunately, the world is full of needy people. From, Pakistan, India, China, Iraq, Belgrade, America, etc, people will positively benefit from the help and generosity of others.

@dauber22
I think you\'re overreacting with your comments directed @Dammekkos.

From \"Friends\":
Ross: Wait a minute. The house was built on radioactive waste and an ancient Indian burial ground? That would never happen.
Phoebe: Okay, obviously you don\'t know much about the U.S. government.

... or ANY government, for that matter. Anyway, my point is, it IS barely comprehensible that poverty exists in the \"developed world\" where we should be able to afford to eradicate it. In the meantime... we can paint for charity...

Anyway this is simply an AMAZING mini, I\'m sure it will fetch a good sum for the crackheads... I mean, Second Harvest.

Hey, be as rude as you want. I just think that there are far more worthy causes than alleviating hunger in America. There are countries where people are actually starving. Not that it matters what I asy, this is not my auction and I\'m not bidding, and I hope this raises a lot of money for the charity, it is a lovely piece.

I\'d like to reconsider my previous comment btw, soup kitchens for the homeless is a good idea. I think I made my first comment a bit rashly (remembering the ogre army that was donated by people that thought their money was going to help tsunami victims, but instead got diverted to hurricane victims - dissappointing, considering the wealth of the US compared to Indonesia).

ps, the charities I\'ve raised for are Signal, Romanian orphans, and St. John\'s, but that last one was a last resort - given the choice, I wouldn\'t give any money to hungry UK subjects, I pay taxes.

Good luck with the auction.

I think that money all went to the rightful place, the Tsunami victims. If I recall correctly, there was some worry about it going to the Red Cross (which at that time shifted gears to help with the Hurricane Relief) but since the auction date was posted before, the money was correctly given for the Tsunami. Please correct me if I am wrong.

ONLY 8 hours left on the auction. Quite a deal to get that Arwen for 85 bucks AND help charity....

Dammekkos2:

Different people believe in different causes. You can give to whoever you wish. Someone just did something nice for something that you couldn\'t care less about. No one asked you to participate. Just don\'t rain on other peoples\' parade. If I won a demon, I would think twice about parting with it, let alone giving the money to charity. Not to mention that TAB Studio busts her ass on a on going basis making this possible. You are off topic, last time I checked, this topic is Demon winner up for grabs not who deserves our charity.

Next time read the forum rules before posting:

WARNING: The majority of the Forum denizens are polite and considerate of each other. We have a very low threshold of tolerance for social defectives. If you can\'t keep it polite, take it elsewhere. It\'s not a question of crossing the line but rather staying well away from it.

As far as I am concerned, you just crossed that line, so consider your part of the conversation finished.
