My girlfriend is getting me cake as this is my 5th completed mini.. A milestone for me.

I made a ton of mistakes since out of the pervious 4, this was the hardest for me.. I messed up on NMM, the skin, and a few other areas.

The base was scratch built with balsa wood.. a first for me.

Thanks for the comments..Being a new painter this figure took me almost 2 weeks to finish..about 1 hour of painting a day. Damn playoffs. Go Suns!

Some mistakes I made:

1. I put a thin layer of dullcote on that flattened everything.Thinking I needed another coat to protect the paint, I sprayed it and the figure turned semi glossy. DOH....

2. I painted the reds with a terracotta base, then mixed some red gore to try to lighten which didnt work very well.the dullcote then brought the darkness of the reds up and all the highlights dissappeared. ?? DOH..

3. The sword was super hard for me on NMM as I could not figure out where to highlight and darken as the sword is a different angle to the ground that Im not used to..

4. I think the base is okay but I should have added some more grass and weeds as I was trying to go for a marshy look..

Good going, very clean style.
I\'m not a big nmm fan, but I think you\'re doing it right. Many painters use some more colors in their nmm, instead of just grey, it would help it blend in with the febric parts.
The green cloak seem a bit flat, you can use yellow/beige maybe instad of white for highlighting, or redish browns for shading.

I\'m definitely trying to improve, and I think the first 5 figures I did where alot better then I thought I could achieve.

I wish we had some painting classes where I live...but we do not and I am forced to go to other options.

I plan to drive up to Alabama this weekend and scale a mountain or two. Legend tells that drinking the yolk of an eagle\'s egg grants a person magical powers.
