Deord's WIP: return to painting

Hi all,

I'm a new member but longtime lurker.
Been about 5 years since I last painted due to daily life and other hobbies interfering and a general drop in interest in playing the games. However, I recently joined a D&D campaign and decided to paint up a mini to represent my moon druid.
I'm taking it as an opportunity to try and relearn some forgotten skills and maybe improve on them. Thus the WIP thread.

Anyway, as I said been painting up a Druid in a fall scheme. Most of my old paints have dried out except for the washes, so bought the Scale75 wood and leather set and started painting. :D
Picture quality isn't great because I still have to dig up my old photo setup from one of the boxes I used when moving.

Still looking for a good wolf miniature to use as an animal companion on the base. Any suggestions on that and the painting would be very much appreciated. :)

Welcome to the wips. I know the feeling about getting back into the hobby and finding many of your paints dried up. I like the shade of the browns on the skirt things. For wolves I believe Tre Manor's fenris wolves are some of the gnarliest out there if you are looking for a version that looks deadly dangerous. He sells them through his Red Box games site.

Thanks guys.
I'm actually kind of happy my old paints dried. Gave me a reason to get some new ones from non-GW manufacturers and so far I'm loving the ultra matte finish on the Scale 75 ones. Will definitely be buying more of those once I start other projects.
I like the Fenris wolf you suggested but he might be a bit big to fit on the base together with the Druid. His dire wolves seem to be perfect though, so thanks for that. :)

Small update. Finished the chest armour/leaves which gave me an excuse to dig up my camera old printed background and try for a better pic. Still need to buy a new ikea bucket/light diffuser to get better lighting but at least it's more in focus than the previous pitcures.
Trying a green/brown for the belts, but not convinced at the moment. Will probably change it to a light desaturated brown next time when I finish of the belts and lower legs.
Anyway, tell me what you think. :)

Cheers, Deord
