My latest offering to the cruel gods of CMON. The Deva Angel from Reaper.
This is my most ambitious attempt at NMM... so, how did I do?

Any feedback is welcome.

Everything is great, especially the feathers. Your nmm however lacks contrast, push the shadows to be a bit darker and you\'ll be set! :)

I agree

Also, someone needs to show the rest of us how to do wings like that. I have one mini sitting all painted save the wings... cause im to much of a wussy to try them. so in conclusion make or give me a tutorial on wings i command it!

I\'m still really working on getting that contrast in place on my NMM, oh well, back to the drawing board.

Thanks for the compliments on the wings... part of the deal is that the wings on this angel are really nicely shapped. Usually wings are too flat on models, these ones have a very nice curve on the inside. Credit Werner Klocke I believe?

I acheived the look I have on the wings through a mix of techniques. First I basecoated with GW bleached bone, then I used thined out Shield Brown from Reaper Master Series (these paints rock!) to set in the darkest shadows under the top of the wing and in between the space where feathers overlap. Once all the darkest points were lined in. Also, I put my darkest shadows between layers of feathers woring top to bottom. Once I had all the shadows set, I used multiple thin washes of RMS Shield Brown (10:1) to even out the tone on the feathers and set some shadows between individual \'hairs\' on the feather. I then carefully overbrushed with the GW bleached bone to begin picking out highlight areas. At this point, I worked on the wings as though they were flat pannels rather than textured surfaces. The tips of the wings were picked out with RMS Linen White at the strongest highlight points. Always using thin paint... well thin enough that it would sit where I want it to. I will porbably go back and pick out the wing tips a bit more with RMS Linen White.

Thanks for the feedback, keep it coming.
;)
