Diarama Question

Heya. I am planning my first diarama piece and I would like to include a stone hearth. Any suggestions on how to construct the hearth?

If you want to build any sort of scale structure, I highly recommend using the molds from Hirst Arts: http://www.hirstarts.com/projects.html
I have been using them for more than 10 years ... the results are awesome.
