Did Adam have a member?

I posted the question in the subject title on Theology Online (my arch-nemesis of a site). It reads as follows:

As Adam was born first (as per the bible) and Eve joined him as God\'s response to his loneliness, would he initially have had genitalia that required covering with a fig leaf? I\'m not joking here - why would he have had genitalia with no sexual partner to have intercourse? Again, to stress the point, Eve was formed in response to Adam\'s loneliness. Was that a sexual loneliness or an emotional one? If sexual, it would sugggest he had genitalia. If emotional he would have had no need to have had the danglies in the first place, so would they have been in place...

The question is driving me mad!

Also, if he was lonely, what does God\'s company amount to? He physically walked with him it seems. That\'s another conundrum for another day (though maybe I answered that with the question about the difference between sexual and emotional loneliness).

...

I asked it for a number of reasons, most of them honorable. I\'ve enjoyed the mental exercise though. There have been a couple of responses, and I also raised the point that urination requires some kind of prominent aiming device.

What say you? ???

They always show him with a fig leaf, so, yes, he had a member. A rather small member, but a member nonetheless.
Maybe God put it there so he could pee.

Yes, Adam could proudly write his name in the snow.

The question is, did Adam ever spank the monkey before Eve came along :innocent:

Actuall, googling \"biological Adam\" is very interesting.

But that could be to hide the fact that he had nothing at all so that people won\'t poke fun at him. Why would they otherwise conceal themselves? Oh lord! (Adam & Eve has just eaten from the tree of knowledge), we\'re supposed to have genitals! quick take these fig-leaves before someone notices. No wonder the animals laughed at us! I\'ve never understood until now what that elephant ment with his comment: \"First man? Not much of a man I say. Take a look at my 5th leg\"

Since neither of them was born in the traditional sense, they didn\'t have belly buttons.

And that\'s why they did the fig-leave pull-over.

Did Adam have a member ?

Well... I was raised a protestant, dropped out in my twenties to being heathen by choice, but I remember enough to give my two cents. Although this exact question did never come up in bible hour.

Adam was made from clay perfect and has never been altered, therefore: yes of course he has had his member from the first beginning on.
The reason WHY, is simple and circular: to be perfect he had to have a member.

Later on Adam asked God for a companion and He made Eve for him, spawned out of Adam\'s self, out of his rib to be exact.
His member took then on a new ability, that is to procreate. A little gift God added in the company package I assume.

Think of Adams male member as like bird\'s wings. Sparrows fly with them, penguins swim with them, emus balance with them, but its essentially always the same wings just put to best use as the situation demands.

So a member without Eve means to not pee on your own feet, and with Eve its fun, children and not to pee on...

Look at it as sort of multitasking, rising to meet the challenge.

Ah, banned again. This time for unnecessarily stupid behaviour. I thought I was talking sensibly.
I suppose your questions must scare their blinkered little mind sets.
I\'ve only visited the site a couple of times (following your pointers) and didn\'t want to get involved in what I see, or rather saw, as entrenched, undeviating and extremely blinkered bigotry.
However, I do admire your perseverance in attempting to raise questions among them.
How many times have you been banned now? And are you aiming at the Big Ban? :D

ultimately the penis could have been just to pee. testes could have been a later addition

i\'d also like to echo mike\'s question - how many times now?

I don\'t really know Scripture by verse, but doesn\'t it say somewhere that God created man in his own image? If that is accepted at face value, why does God need sexual organs?

I suppose the best answer the theists could provide for your question is that being an omniscient being, God intended to make a woman all along, and made Adam with the required equipment for procreation right from the start. That still doesn\'t address the question I posed, though.

WWWWWWWWELLL...

Pretty sure the bible is composed of a series of stories. I\'d take details smaller than the names of any character with a grain of salt.

To really bend your noodle think about why he had nipples.

The real reason men have nipples is perfectly logical, but from a pure theological (creationist) perspective though I don\'t think there\'s any supportive argument possible.

Anyone know this riddle?

A tomb is discovered in the Sinai. Inside are two bodies, a man and a woman, lying side by side. They are very well preserved. A professor of archaeology is called to examine them and as soon as he sees them he pronounces it\'s Adam and Eve.

How did he know?
