Dilema... Round or Square?

I like to try to re-base many of my non-gaming minis (IE, no specific base required by game rules) but I find I\'m often wavering back and forth between wanting them on round and square bases (even hex sometimes).

I\'m wondering what others prefer for their minis? I\'ve been on a round kick the last couple years but now I\'m starting back into square. I just wish I could make up my mind as I do have a strong preference for uniformity.

Well when I started making display pinths I made square ones..then everyone asked for round plinths and for a while that was hot..then suddenly square was back in..now I do a mix of both. I myself prefer round, but there is a lot you can do with a square plinth or base too.

Generally I like the idea of square bases as they give a definite \'front\' to the display of the mini (even if it\'s turned to one side). But some things just seem to look best on round bases.

What Einion and Jeff say...
I tend to think of it from what the mini is doing and interate it as part of that.. if the model has 4 definite viewing angles and is in heroic pose style stance then square .. If it\'s got movement and more dynamics round....
I think it\'s to do with the fact that when on a square base we look at front back side but miss the inbetween bits and round bases just open it up a bit more....
