Hi all.

This is my main entry for this years GDUK.
I was very pleased with a silver demon for it.

I had wrote an extensive description of all the work I had put into this but forgot to put a subject in the post... so all of my ramblings dissapeared....... grrr bloody computers.

So please ask questions and critique it and I may write it all again.

Thanks alot.

Really nice and dynamic scene! Your painting is very sharp and precise as well! Maybe some more varation in tones would enhance some elements like the orks flesh. I think the back plate and tail are my favourite parts, they look awfully smooth! :) Well done and congratulations! I was very happy for you when you got the throphy.. I have always had a soft spot for the \"old timers\" :p Shame we didn\'t meet up though.

I caught a look at this after the judging etc and it was so much better to see out of the cabinet.

I really like it and can\'t find any fault at all... probably because i\'m enjoying looking at it too much to spend time trying to find anything negative.

Very deserved Silver.

Congrats! You short arsed southerner!

And I will definitely be hounding you for tips over the coming year, and hope to meet you again in the future :)

This is quality stuff. I have to admit that I was rooting for this or the other Orky diorama for gold. Not sure if that\'s down to anything other than my penchant for the greenskins though to be honest!

The painting is excellent. I guessed it was by someone French or Spanish when I first saw it and you should certainly take that as a complement. The posing is also good, although if I had to quibble I\'d say that the gap between the chitinous plates on the upper and lower halves of the \'Fex don\'t quite match up as well as they could do around the waist.

Hope you weren\'t too miffed at getting the silver. I seem to recall that you saying you wanted a bronze during the brief meeting we had before you hurried off to the prize presentation thingy. And sorry I didn\'t recognise who you were too. If I had I would have been able to tell you that your Gorkamorka diorama from... was it 98? That\'s one of my favourite GD entries ever.

@Lono

Yes I have to agree with you about the plates. I should of curved them to match the curve of the body. It looks wrong somehow and now its gonna bug me...... thanks. lol

To get the look I was after I cut it apart there and resculpted the \'fleshy\' part of its thorax and cut both legs up to reposition them. I was going for a low down stalking/charging pose. The standard carnifex seems to stand to tall for my taste.

Its head is a combination of two that come in the box. The tusked head has had the long tongue of another cut and fitted in to it.

The colour scheme of the Fex\'s mouth is based on that of a crocodile.... it seemed to look much cooler than a standard red maw.

Wow! That is really, really nice. One of the nicest \'fexes I\'ve seen, and the orks are great too - and it\'s all so dynamic that the painting hardly matters! Congrats on the trophy - very well deserved :)

The whole scene caught my eye but the details then drew me in...The maw with crocodillian colour just adds in my eyes a touch of class...
As Avelorn says \"the old timers\" I agree . It\'s not so much old timers as a name that set a benchmark at the time...I agree with Iono I think the Gork diorama to this day is the most amazing yet the lowest publicised piece of hobby gold I have seen...If I remember rightly even the WD issue with the winners didn\'t carry your name..(may be wrong) anyways thanking you now for the inspiration you have provided for me in times past and so happy to see your work again...This really rules.......

@Demonherald
Thanks for the praise it makes my ego happy. :p

I keep getting people ask about the gorkamorka piece, I may have to scrape the white emulsion and plaster off that it has got sat on a shelf in the garage. Then repair the damage so I can take some photos.

I did have my photo with me sword in WD and my name. Just not naked dancing girls and a lifetimes supply of minis..... shame I would of liked that.

Anyway thanks everyone for the kind words.
