Dirz paint scheme

Hi everyone, so I want to start playing Confrontation and got most of my Dirz army. As of now they are all primed white and based on their... well, bases, with sand on them. Now I need some thought on the paint scheme I wanted to use.

First the skin. As those guys live in the desert and the fighters will probably march through under the burning sun, I wanted a darker skin tone than the one represented on the cards. I thought about about GW Dark Flesh as my deepest shade, going up to GW Bronzed Flesh as my strongest highlight (I usually do three steps, but may use five for this army - I want them to really look good).
The base is supposed to represent the desert sand, so I thought about basing in Vallejo Earth, then drybrushing the sand in Vallejo Desert Yellow (the name implies it ;)).
Metallics are going to be done with regular metallic paints, eventhough it somehow seems like a sacrilege ;) I however do want a light blue sheen and am not entirely sure how to accomplish it - I thought about painting the metal parts the way I usually do metal and then add a thin blue glaze. I would be thankful for any tips.
Last there would be the capes and other cloth. I am still not sure what colour to use here - I thought about green, which would bind it a little to the blueish armour. My first idea was purple, but I soon thought that would somehow clash with the rest of the miniature.

Any thoughts or tipps for me?

For the metal there are a number of things you can do.

1) add some blue ink or paint to the first metallic coat.

2)ink wash as you say, but use a mix of blue and black inks.

3) Use vallejo\'s gunmetal blue as the base metal. I love this colour you can see what sort of effects you can get here http://www.coolminiornot.com/?id=47018

Thanks Trevor! The colour you did on your Duke is exactly the colour I want on my Dirz metal. I just hope I can find it around here ;)

I am still open for suggestions by the way.... ;)
