Disclaimer?

hi!
I\'ve noticed that a lot of people have disclaimers on thier sites saying that they are not connected to GW.
Now, I have a website too, do I need to write a disclaimer, and in that case, what should I say? I don\'t know anything about legal rights and stuff. Is it enough to just say that \"This site is completely unofficial and in no way connected to Games Workshop\"? And do I also have to include other companies whos minis I display there ???

help me please...

I typically tailor my disclaimer rather than use a generic one. Legally, I don\'t know which is better.

Years ago, mine was originally a fan site for an online game and called \"Tales of the Necromancer.\" I won\'t state which game, actually, because I\'d rather not badmouth nor promote them. They had a restrictive and completely unenforcable disclaimer that you were expected to use if you linked to their site at all using their \"play this game\" button. If you think the GW one is bad, you have NO idea... <g>

Later, the site evolved into a better fan site, then merely a practice bed for testing PHP techniques and javascript, and finally all the game related stuff vanished entirely. Along the way, I ended up with www.necromancer-tales.com which later was shortened to www.necrotales.com. Then I found out about Necromancer Games (my original site actually predates their company, but my current domain name does not), and realized I should distance myself from them. I\'m not a knock-off of course (totally different types of webpages), but the coincidence in name is there. The newest disclaimer reflects that.

At one point, I thought it\'d be fun to put up D&D characters and/or new monsters and feats, so I added Wizards of the Coast to my disclaimer. I never did add anything like that, but the WotC remained.

I don\'t have Games Workshop in mine. It seems if you\'re going to include one miniature company, legally you\'d have to include them all (or at least all of the ones you have images of in your gallery). If that\'s the case, you\'re talking about having an entire CYA page of its own rather than a mere disclaimer, and that seems excessive. Just look at that huge block of text you\'re supposed to add as a disclaimer just from Games Workshop! That\'s not going to fit in my footer! <cackles>

Hm. Does CoolMini have a disclaimer page with all of that?

Haha, yeah I saw that, it was an entire page all in itself. But I think you can use just the \"general\" stuff from there.
