@Skullz: i agree with everything you just said...
spot on, in my opinion...
i do think that style is held in high regard, in all the art world...
technical perfection does not equal style, and vise versa...
i think that Rembrandt had technical perfection, but there were a lot of old masters who painted in the same style...
Picasso and Van Gogh had unique styles that made them stand out from the crowd, even if people picked on their "technical faults"...
@Supervike: thanks man...
i hesitated to make that post, 'cause i hate talking about myself...
i don't want people to get the impression that i think i'm hot shit, and don't have anything to learn (as some other painters do, and just piss everyone off)...
i still have a ways to go before my works is as respected as Alexi Z's, or my rates are as high as those of Mrika, but i'm in the race...
i may be huffin' and puffin', and red in the face, but i keep pushing myself...
my brief for The Butcher was to take the studio scheme, and make it better...
no pressure there!!!
he's already a week late, but every little detail is getting the attention it deserves...
hopefully he will be recieved by you guys as my best work yet...
if nothing else, it was fun to paint like Mike...
@everyone: there are quite a few people who have a style i can recognize right away, and it's not just those who are considered "top painters"...
you don't have to be groundbreaking to be a good painter (thankfully the sculptors give us wonderful canvases to work on)...
it's all a journey of discovery...
the daily new submissions in the gallery inspire me to put in the 8 hour days that are needed to improve, no matter how good they are or what they score...
thanks...
cheers
