DiStudio's Painting Projects

Hi guys,

After a hectics summer period I have found the time to settle into some painting. Out of all the cool stuff piled up in the corner, what really caught my eye this time round is Privateer press' Blindwater Congregation. Essentially a army of Crocodiles, I found this a nice challenge for me considering I am weak at painting greens and have a tendency to produce boring bases.

So this week I managed to complete a figure called "Black hide Wrastler"

I had a lot of fun painting this figure as it is so different to what I have done before, up to this point I had never painted anything reptilian (except a really bad Emperor Dragon back in the early 90's). Also considering I started this on Monday just past, I am really happy to have it done within 4 evenings (finished yesterday).

Thanks for looking, c&c always appreciated.

I bet you felt a glow upon completing that bad boy. Knowing you've wrestled the weak greens and boring bases into submission. ;)

Some photos from different angles against a plain background would be groovy though. To show him off. He's verah nahca. :)

Thanks for the support and comments guys, I will be doing 'glamour' shots of the all painted figures eventually with more angles etc.

I have managed another figure this week, again Hordes: The Thrullg. This figure was a bit of a up hill struggle for me, everything that could have gone wrong went wrong...poor coverage, fibres in the paint you name it :s I nearly gave up on a couple of occasions!

With two large figures done, I am looking forward to painting something smaller in the form of a Croak Hunter. I have something interesting in mind for the colour scheme and look forward to sharing.

Real life kicked into over drive last year when I moved into my first house, so painting and sharing has been limited the last few months, so apologise for the gaps between posts.

I started collecting KD figures last April but have only now plucked up the courage to paint one now, I am pretty pleased with the final result as I re-learnt a lot of techniques I had forgotten over my 6 year absence from the paint table. I am currently applying what I have re-learnt to my next figure; Kingdom Death's White/Holy Lion and hope to share this figure soon.

Here is Kingdom Death's Gorm.

Finished my White Lion!

Had a lot of problems with this one though, paint kept getting particles in it and a whole bunch of weirdness :S

I am thinking about painting up the Manhunter now, to accompany this beastie.

Current project: Kingdom Death Man-Hunter. 4th day working on him, the coat is proving interesting and has caused me to stall.

Hoping to finish this up by the end of week and move on to 'Grand Mother'

looks like I'm going to have to suck it up and paint my gators too see how amazing they come out. Really solid look.

Thanks for checking out my work :)

As a slow burn, I am working on a new 40K project in the form of Astral Claws. It has been a while since I have worked with this much metallic paint so am liking the change of mediums. This is the test model for my army and is from my Retaliator squad.

I am happy with the pace of painting and am hoping to have the squad done by end of week, this will eventually lead up to a paint job of the lovely Lufgt Huron from FW, then it's back to KD stuffs (for a little bit).
