like already said at another forum, i think the base terrain look a bit flat and "uninteresting". some more barbed wire, roots and stuff would do the trick!

also, some more contrast would not hurt in some places, for example the backpack.

the weathering is ace tho!

Sandbags, debris, razor wire, ammo. Anything to give it a little more as said the base is quite plain.

Good job on the actual dude

Very nice, though it could use some higher highlights (which I don't think would diminish his grimy glory). Though I'm wondering why he isn't using that bipod? That cannon would weigh a ton!

Thanks for your suggestions, I will consider all that you've said while making my next mini.

The idea here is that he is advancing ready to fire/firing with the stubber, out of a crater blasted in a road or a building. That's why he isn't using the bipod. I wasn't imagening him in a trench system or anything of the sort, just your regular ol battlefield where there aren't sandbags and razorwire thrown about everywhere. But I take it from your comments that I added too little visual interest on the base in this case, will keep that in mind.

Weapons in 40k are wildly oversized, but I figure a stubber would be roughly a medium machinegun. And while a weapon strap really helps (but would be too much pain to integrate on the model properly) it is entirely possible to fire them from the hip while on the move, as shown. The model doesn't show as much movement as I had in mind but this was the idea I had while making it. But I agree, No Such Agency, it does look rather large and heavy :)

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions!

i agree there aint razorwire or sandbags thrown everywhere on the battlefield, but, to create a more interesting scene or mini-diorama if you like, i think it have to be more to it than just plain road, no matter what.

but its a cool mini, nontheless :)

I really like it!
My only suggestion is that the bright metal of the stubber barrel looks a bit too out of place and draws the eye away from the face of the mini. Most military weapons have a dark parkerised finish to cut down on shine but chips and scratches still show through as bright metal.
Other than that a first class job!

Sadly the base detracts from this for me.
Having such a large black mass at what is essentially the front of the mini blocking view of the rest of the figure just doesn't work.

Thanks a lot for your comments guys! I'm taking it all to heart.

A good point, and I agree, thank you for binging it to attention! Had I intended this for display I would probably have fixed this by putting a plaque there to cover it but this was mostly for fun and just to paint something again (first mini I painted since early july last year) to maintain some skill with the brushes... I will keep this in mind, thanks.
