Do resin models count as minis here?

I\'ve been seeing a lot of big stuff going up here- resin garage kits, 1:6 military figures, and character busts.
So these are all valid miniature entries?

I mean, it\'s not the scale (a dragon or Cthulhu is going to be 5-8\") but I thought this site was for gaming figures and not overall modelling.

If models are ok then I\'ve got to get my Cenobytes and Bettie Page up here :flip:

Seems like anything short of 1:1 is a mini, right? ;)

I like seeing the work ... it\'s interesting stuff and it\'d be a shame not to get to see it just because they\'re bigger.

I\'d actually like to see a new category for the resin and vinyl crowd.

I started painting models before miniatures, and I like seeing what other people paint.

I do agree that these items don\'t qualify as MINI, and a newbee seeing one of these larger models will think that they are EXCELLENT miniatures. Well, they\'re not, they are much bigger than 28mm. If not a new category, then the posters should at least state what the item is and it\'s size, just out of fairness.

What

you mean a photo of my 1:1 scale model of my house or my car is out?

Just kidding.

I\'d say that they do count as minis, but in a category of their own.

Well, since I am the one who started the site, let me explain the intention of CMON. You all know the story of the hotornot.com thing, but ultimately, I wanted a place for painters to exchange ideas, discuss techniques, improve the overall paint skills, store pictures permanently, and build a community of painters that share the same interest. Now within this group of people, there are a lot of different sub-groups, Sci Fi, Fantasy, near future, far future, historical... the list goes on, same with sizes, 15mm, 25mm, 28mm 35mm 54mm, resin kits... while they are all different, they all require some sort of assembly and a nice paint job. As far as I am concerned, all I want to see is more and more eye candy everyday... a great paint job is a great paintjob whether it be a 1:6 resin bust or a 15mm trooper.

Some might argue that it is unfair that a resin kit has more detail than a 28mm mini. Then again so is a 54mm inquisitor fig compared to a 15mm or 28mm fig... I personally am glad that people are submitting a variety of work in different media so that we can have a chance to expand our horizons. I guess I will request for Chern to make more categories when he has time and further disect the site to make sure that we clearly define each sector of our interest.
