Herb had it right - if I only bought figures after I\'d finished painting the others, I\'d have 6 GW Orks from the mid 80\'s in my \'collection\' and nothing else!

I\'ll promise not to buy any more figures, if Rackham promise not to make any more figures I want to buy ok - do we have a deal ???

To analyze the insanity takes a few more words ... I too buy on the WOW! factor.

Also, after having to use ebay to find a bunch of old RP dragons that I really should\'ve bought when they first came out instead of spending way too much for them on ebay, I vowed to not make that mistake again, and buy what I like for now or the future.

Also, for what I\'d call \"special minis\" ... ones that really strike a chord with me, I will buy 2 or 3 ... one for now, one to sell on ebay to cover costs of 3, and one for when I get better.

I also buy some minis that I know I\'m not ready to paint (skillwise) so that when I\'m ready I\'ll have them and finally, like books, it\'s just sorta fun to buy these things. I get a sense of satisifaction knowing that the \"lead\" collection is avaialbe whenever I need something to finish off a particular project.

Wow! I\'m glad I\'m not the only one who does this. If I really like something, I tend to buy 3--1 for me, one to sell, and one to.. uh.. have.. or convert (or let my fiancee pretend belongs to him until I decide I wanted it, too)! <G> I\'ve sold two miniatures on ebay so far. At this rate all those \'extra\' minis I\'ve bought to cover the costs of the minis I really wanted will actually pay off in about.. 30 years.. assuming I stop buying any more (yah.. right..)

I also keep saying \"I won\'t buy any more miniatures until I paint something to sell on ebay..\" and that basically works until I see something cool. (I used to say \"Until I sell something on ebay\" but that was too restrictive..) <G>

How is this for an example..I have just posted a mini I particularly like to someone else who is going to paint it for me. However!!! that leaves a gap in my unpainted-blistered collection, so I have ordered another one to replace it:bouncy:

Actually I don\'t buy enough minis, but then I get a lot of minis as gifts during Christmas or for my birthday, so I get more minis than I might be able to manage. Now, if I could find decent blocks of time to prep, prime, and paint my minis, I wouldn\'t have enough, but right now I have more than I can handle.

R can sometimes outway F but at those times you can use the variable P for plastic

I had to laugh...

when I saw this question. I thought the answer was a given. Though some of you have admitted to only buying what you will paint... amazing that is.

I would guess that I have over 2000 unpainted minis and thats probably a low guess. (thats not counting the epic scale guys that came with Adeptu Titanicus, Space Marine, Space Marine v2, and Epic 40K, or all the mini\'s I bought to go with the ones that came with the game). I am not kidding I have Space Marines from the Rogue Trader days, first edition.

I have always bought more than I can paint, two reasons, 1 for an army I want to play (including tons of plasic squats), or 2 cause the mini said WOW (I think I have one of each of the late 80s chaos champions and I have never played chaos.

Its an affliction. I also collect RPG\'s just to read them... 1 six foot bookcase stuff and the pile of stuff that won\'t fit.

My latest has been Confrontation, I think I am up to about 20 unopened blisters, and about 5 to read the various rules... I do have 6 Griffons primed though... that counts for something right?

I do the same with RPG and other Rules sets. I buy them, just to read the rules....Kind of a sickness, but I do it nonetheless....

I would be scared to mention exactly how many unpainted minis I have. Its enough to fill many shelves in my Garage, Art Room, Shed, and a few closets........

Tami, 60 kilos ?? That is about 130 pounds right ? Yes I understand, I probably have about that in old Ral Partha, TSR, Citadel / D&D stuff alone, not to mention my GW Lord of the Rings army, and my soon to be Sisters of Battle 40K army, since I had to buy the new GW Exorcist, it was just too cool to pass up....( I need help, more time to paint,..probably both! )

I have so many minis not out of the blister. that I have purchased the same miniature 3 times cause each time I see it I think man i really like that one gotta have it .... kaching....

It has gotten so bad I have written a vb program to keep track of them all. After reading this I shouls sell as shareware. Only holds like 30 minis unless you unluck it....

I recently got back into painting minis after a seventeen year hiatus. I started last fall, but had a bit of a lapse into inactivity over the winter. However, I have been painting again these last couple of months, and yes, not only do I still have minis from all that time ago that need paint (or have been stripped to repaint), I am starting to get a small collection of new minis that are also in need of painting.

I think buying more minis than we can paint is a big part of the hobby for most of us. Myself, well, I\'ve become attracted to 40K, and I am working on some Nurgle stuff and some SOB stuff. One day maybe I\'ll actually play, and that way I\'ve two opposing armies in the works!

I used to have a fairly large horde, but I decided to sell much of it on ebay, only keeping the stuff I knew I really wanted and might eventually paint. I will surely still never get to all of them, but its better than it was.

Patrick - Nice collection, I would send some pictures, mine is about the same except I dont have my mess as well organized as you !!! I especiallly like that you have all your unfinished stuff in a display case, personally I would love to buy a display case, but every time I have the money, I buy more minis. I browsed your site as well, and after seeing \"The Horde\" I couldn\'t resist clicking on your \"For Sale\" button. After seeing your collection, it would have shocked me if you had anything for sale !!!! Thanks for making me smile, its nice to know I\'m not alone !
