Do you ever LOVE your own minis?!

Do you ever feel 100% satisfied with a miniature that you\'ve painted? I feel very happy with these two that I finished today and last night..

The NMM gold on that wozard is absolutly great, I though it was metalics until I read you\'d done it in NMM :p But I think that red loin cloth could be better it looks like it\'s shaded a bit dark. Good job overall, special mention goes for the face too :D

Good work Bakalla! It\'s good to see people enjoying their painting.......
I have a few minis that I am very pleased with, but I always seem to notice problems with them later. Still couldn\'t sell any of them though. It\'d be like pulling teeth:D

Great stuff...

Bakalla, I must say that you\'ve come such a long way with your painting :D I remember the problems you used to have with eyes etc and you seem to have that hands down now. Also your standard of painting has greatly improved. Well done and keep up the good work :D

They look fantastic Hakan.
The skintone on the grafter is excellent.
I try to keep my painting very subtle and while this looks good in person on the photos it can tend to look flat.Maris and Inge are getting retouched becuase of this with bolder skin highlights etc.Actually Inge is getting a change of wardrobe as well.:D
I might start to paint in different styles, one for sales and myself and another for posting.:D
Scratch that I\'m far too lazy.lol

Thanks for the feed back! :] I don\'t think I will be selling these ones either.. I normally don\'t have a problem selling whatever I have painted, but these ones feel closer to my heart than most of what I have painted before :flip: It\'s partly because I love the sculpting and the poses on these models.. they\'re nicely freaky and twisted, exactly according to my taste :duh:

@Klute: I know exactly what you mean regarding the soft or harder highlights and taking pictures of the mini. I sometimes do a lot softer highlighting as well, which can look VERY good in real life, but tends to look less spectacular when you photograph it! It\'s good to experiment though, I think.. at least for me because I haven\'t been painting for a very long time so far. I think that doing different styles for different purposes is a good idea, but I\'d be way too lazy for that as well! lol

I agree with Tooshy...

I can remember some of your first posts Bakalla, and it just seemed to get progressively better with each new mini.

I can\'t say I \'love\' any of the minis I have painted. I am proud of parts, but there always seems to be flaws that I just couldn\'t get right, so I had to settle (in order to finish the mini)..

Whenever I look at some of my finished minis, invariabley, my eye draws right to the \'flaws\'. Of course it is the flaws that make them mine, I guess....

Bra jobbat, Håkan!

Those are nice minis! I think the best thing about them is the fact that you\'ve clearly cared a lot for the overall mood of the minis. The best individual parts are the NMM gold details which, as Frenchkid pointed out, are very believable. Also the face of the gravedigger is superb.

I use to love my most recent mini for a while, until I have painted some more and discover that I can do certain things better. Right now I love my fat-monk-with-huge-pimple-on-his-forehead that I finished a while ago. But, I have a few new ones going, so I guess the monk\'s days are numbered... lol

Love your minis?

Use protection, ever hear of lead rot--- sorry couldn\'t resist. I am a sick sic sick man, it was the first thing that popped into my head. My wife often remarks I stare lovingly at my figs just like they are my kids. lollollol
My kid sits staring in the same twisted fascination now too.:flip::bouncy:

Thanks for remembering my older stuff :D I\'ve had the privilege of having a LOT of spare time in which to paint and spend time on my hobby, I think that\'s the main reason for how I\'ve improved for each miniature that I\'ve done. I\'ve had a lot of time to improve my skills and techniques. You\'re right about the flaws that you always seem to spot best on your own work, I do the same thing. The reason I\'m so happy with these ones is that I (according to myself) managed to catch the overall creepy and freaky feeling that I wanted to do.. :)

@Ritual: Thanks! :D I know what you mean! But it\'s good if you always love your latest work.. it means you\'re progressing, right?
