You\'re right, the competition is pretty tough... this is why they give away the sword at the END of the contest and not at the beginning.
They dont like to wash out the blood from the display cases

My god....are swords really that easy to get a hold of? I\'m just thinking about all of the things that could happen if the wrong people got their hands on one...

We have a group of D&D-crazy-jock-nerd-walking paradoxes who regularily meet in one of the parks to beat the crap out of each other with rubber/duct tape swords. They\'re like the historical re-enactment people, but they wear cloaks and tunics made out of old blankets, and yell war cries like \"Feel the wrath of Gorgath!!\" or \"I, Drogar, will avenge my family!\"

If they had sharp swords, the rate of gladiatorial homicides in Canada would spike sharply.

he he, at my school we just have the kids that \"think\" they can paint bring all there miss matched minis to me to show me (cause i was the only girl that played, something about impressing me, i dont know, i wasent really paying attention) and it was all i had in me not to go \"ARGH! wat are you doing, thin your paints THIN TOU FRICKING PAINTS!!!!!

I have two

One is a large, two handed, and made from old car parts via an arc welder, cutting torch, hammer, and grinder. The man I apprenticed to in welding made it.

The second one is a falchion that I made with a wooden handle and much shorter, about the length of my arm. No pics, sorry. Maybe I\'ll take some, but it\'ll be a while before the film is developed due to cash inflow not matching the doctor bill outflow.

well i forgot something in my collection:

i also have 2 swords and a knife from WWII that belonged to my grandpa and his brother: they were in the italian navy and those were part of their \"parade\" dressing

i also have a crappy axe that i think comes from somewhere in africa (maybe egypt, or morocco, don\'t know)

and a machete from south america (it has a sharp edge, quite dangerous!)

I was fascinated by knives as a kid, I have lots of pen knives, and a few daggers.

There is a shop here has loads of cool looking non-functional display swords, pretty cheap, but I\'m worried I\'ll never get them back to Britain if I ever move back.

Concerning swords and airports, I have a story: On October 2002, when the maximum security was applied worldwide, my company had to send a 16th century 2-handed sword in the USA... We were asked for an extra-seat, for the carrier wanted it as a hand baggage lol

Over here in the Netherlands you can find those LOTR sword and so on (fantasy display swords) quite easily. I don\'t know the rules in detail but I think it is like this: display weapons are allowed at home when they are mounted in such a way they can not be immediatly used (well fastened). For transport they must be well packed and there is a age restriction. Ranged weapons are forbidden (incl. bows+arrows and throwing knives). \"Real\" weapons (like katanas) will require a license and a very good explanation. I\'m not sure about training weapons.

By the way, has anybody been to Toledo? The tourist shops there are funny. Half the store is like any other Spanish tourist trap and the other half is an armoury! Swords, pole weapons, armour, you name it. Having seen some of those weapons I think the old Toledo master smiths would not have been impressed though.
So much for the famous \"Toledo\" steel.

Yeah, I´ve been in Toledo many times. I live only 60 km away from Toledo. It´s a very beautiful place and you are true,in the same shop you can buy a t-shirt and a chainmail.
