I only have one demon. As Nigel/Telincus said, I\'m anal, which helped more :D

Hmm, Donga, as you\'re originally from these here parts did you do a foundation in art & design at Chesterfield college? That would make four of us on cmon here if you did.

Close, BTEC Nat General Art & Design, year 2 was in with the Foundation course. I was in the \'dome\' 90-93, did a part time access course because I didn\'t get onto the Degree I wanted. Back in those days we used to smoke \'herbal\' cigarettes in the dome....happy days!

Foundation from \'94-\'95 for me, although I did start the year before, having to then drop out and defer due to health issues.

I don\'t know.
I\'m still working on my GD2003 entry.

I didn\'t make the deadline.

It\'s probably too late, now.

Do they accept really old models?

Like a 1984 berserker?

I was told in year 9 (aged 14 I think), that I shouldn\'t bother with art, because (and I quote) \"you have no talent or potential\". showed \'em. Actually I met her a few years later and asked her how much her last canvas sold for.

I win! she\'s a huge pile of steaming faliure!

steaming failure from people who tried to keep you back due to their own ineptitude also smells like roses to me.

Can\'t hurt though!

Thats my opinion also.

Although in some places if you team up with talented artists you can gain a GD also.:|~

I´m a Student of Architecture, Ben is a an Architect...

It comes in quite handy if you know how to operate a lasercutter or how to build a realistic Bearing structure, but hey... it´s only Miniatures and fun...:)...

Mostly said already - no, certainly don\'t need to be on the evidence since many have been won by those without.

One should really question the \"trained artist\" bit - as in trained to paint minis? :D Or trained in some other artistic area? Because the second might actually be a hindrance, not an advantage!!

Skill can be acquired with personal dedication - practice and experience - and motivation or drive can sure help overcome limitations in what is usually thought of as \'natural talent\'. Good teaching is a great boon (not just on a personal level, even good SBSs online, guides in books etc.) but it\'s not essential with certain individuals.

One thing that can be developed, but most people don\'t think can be taught outright, is flair, which may be one of the things that helps someone without formal training to excel, outstripping those who have had the training.
