You gots to remember that as a BBC program it has

a) got to have some sort of educational content

b) to offend no type of person, minority group, animal, chair etc

c) no budget for any sort of effect, acting talent etc etc.

Also this episode was always going to be dedicated to introducing all the characters because a lot of people watching it wouldn\'t have been born the last time Dr. Who was on. As such let this one slide (because it was always going to be poo!) and see what happens next week! Then we can judge

I think that the program was bad I mean years ago it took 4 to 6 episodes to sort out the various villains not 45 minutes. I think the new doctor was good however a lot better than I expected and certainly the best one since Tom Baker.
I think it was a missed opportunity but still entertaining.

i saw a little of it and it looked quite funny and cheesy. but i missed the bulk as we had a load of a+e patients come in. how inconsiderate!!

c) no budget for any sort of effect, acting talent etc etc.The BBC has a budget of billions - more than most third world countries!!(for non-UK nationals: every household with a TV in the UK has to have a TV licence by law which costs about $250 a year and all of which goes to the BBC). They\'d just rather squander it in commissioning \'works of art\' from Tracey Emin.

I was up laaate once not long ago and a channel that doesn\'t come in very well was showing \"The 3 Doctors\" and I stayed up even longer to see it all (think I went to bed at 5, work at 8).

Man I miss that show. I\'m hoping to be able to budget Netflix in so I can rend the DVDs.

Anywho, glad to see it hasn\'t been totally abandoned, and no matter what the BBC did it has to be better than the utter carp that FOX did with it.

And Eddie Izzard would at least have made the show funny. Camp-wise, he\'s only just ahead of Tom and Colin Baker(s). A missed opportunity. I can see him now, taking the piss with every look and phrase lol.

Ah, I knew I\'d see some screaming and moaning over here. Funny how any sort of remake/sequel of a beloved show rouses that sort of response in some people.

Just so you know what a huge Doctor Who fan I am, I read all the novelisations when I couldn\'t see the episodes (this was in the early 90s, before it was released on video). I also met my fiancee as a result of being a fan.

I am one of the naughty Americans who downloaded the illegal internet copy. We saw it about two weeks ago with friends. I was a bit nervous, as my fiancee had watched it earlier and voiced some complaints, but overall I thought it wasn\'t bad. Wasn\'t as good as some of the earlier series, but it wasn\'t as horrid as I feared.

I rather wished it had been longer. 45 minutes wasn\'t enough. And I would have liked the new Doctor\'s costume to be a bit less dull. I\'ll be willing to watch more if it ever becomes available over here in a more legal form.

i liked the new doctor, its good having a slightly \'common\' \' northern\' doctor, the others were all stuck up aristocratic southerners, no offence intended to any southerners btw lol

some 1 asked how much they spent on it, well i can inform you that they spent 1 millionn quid on each episode, which in todays money isnt too bad, although the interior of the tardis does look a bit wank.

i liked his jokes aswell, very funny,

billy piper wasnt as bad as i thought at all, i thought shed be crap but she werent too bad at all, i wouldnt say no lol

Ah, now you\'ve brought out the researcher in me. Nope, Ben Elton would\'ve been about 19 when Quark was on the air. It ran in 1978. It was created by Buck Henry. He\'s best known to American fans as having been on Saturday Night Live back in the 70s.
