Since I\'ve been watching Dr Who since it began in the 60\'s I didn\'t mind Chrisopher Eccleston in the role. (Ok the scripts were a little \'iffy\' , but no worse then some of the dire stuff churned out during the Slyvester Mccoy days.)
I\'m hoping that Tennant will continue a bit of the dark & sarcastic humour of Eccleston and make the role more rounded.
Still think William Hartnell was the best Doctor.
As an American fan of the show I get so puzzled by what you Islanders say.
Who are Chrisopher Eccleston, Slyvester Mccoy, and David Tennant ?
I only started watching in the 1970s, but my station dropped the show as soon as Davison morphed into Baker II and I haven\'t seen a station carry the show since. I\'ve never seen a Baker II episode. One station did run back to the Pertwee episodes, which was nice, but I\'ve never seen anyone before that, so the Doctor is one of 3 men to me (I try to forget the Fox TV fiasco).
I\'ve heard most Brits find Pertwee the best Doc, and most Americans, Tom Baker.
(and of course TB did an amazing roll as Cpt. Redbeard Rum, a nifty Puddleglum, and was even a tolerable Sir Guy de Gisbourne)
