Does Canada = Icy Paradise?

No paradise here. Winter blows.

We have temperatures outside my house that range from +40 celcius in the summer to -50 or lower int he winter. Without us conditioning the environment, it would really be inhabitable unless we were a migratory species....

Birds and Butterflies all have the sense to move south every fall, so why the heck do we get stuck in this godforsaken wasteland of frigid weather? Every morning in the winter, I bundle up, go outside, unplug my car, hope it starts, sit there for a good ten minutes wastign gas to warm it, and then there is the drive on absolutely terrible roads...

I hate cold. I hate winter. Even hockey (or the lack thereof) sucks nowadays...

In Alberta there are no rats. There is desert/ prairie in the south and east, mountains in the west, and wicked tundra in the north. No place for them to get through. Then we have an active rat patrol to catch any that come in on shipping like trains/planes/trucks. Hard to believe , but ask any rodent expert.

@IPM - having lived in a state where it can go from 20 degrees to 109 degrees and back again in the space of two weeks, (including two ice storms and one snow shower), I can officially say, imho that the cold sucks. I can always cool off somehow, but once I get cold I\'m done for the day.

Course now I\'m in a country where in the sunlight its 100 plus and when the wind blows it drops to 60 and feels like you\'re in the arctic. Go figure.

Grumb is right. Living here in the states just south of the Lakes, we actually get more snow than most other places - 210\" last year but it\'s fine with me. I actually love snow. I moved back here from Dallas, in part, becase I missed it.

Just Kidding.. but from all the BC folk I know that go to Alberta, your weather bites. Move this way; we can always do with some more great painters.

I\'ll stick to Vancouver, where it hit 22 degrees celsius today and it was as beautiful as can be. I\'ll take my camera to work on Friday and post a picture from a downtown highrise. It\'ll make you jealous and disprove the Canada = Icy Paridise nonsense. It should just be plain old Canada = Paradise.

And Bif Naked kicks ass. So does Billy Talent, 54-40, Sloan, Spirit of the West..... the list goes on and on.
