Granddad!
.....PC´s been acting up for ages, just kept resetting itself
to cut a long story short I ordered a new XP CD, which should arrive about next Tues
not one to sit around I thought just make sure the HDD is working ok I´d do a dual install with Linux Mint5..
.....only it wasn´t
it installed over windows
so I´ve lost everything, all my pics, tutorials, pdf´s, bookmarks to all my favorite webs
the absolute lot!!!!!
:(:(:(
and no, there is no back up,cause that HDD did die!

Mick I know exactly how you feel, I had a disc crash at the start of the month but because I was running in a raid configeration over 2 discs I lost everything and can\'t recover a single thing, I lost 8 months work but the thing that hurt most was the references and favourites folder I had built up.

Managed to get a lot of photos back thanks to facebook and photobucket so not bad in the end.

Granddad!
thanks guys lol
could be a blonde moment if a had any Shaz

yeah WG, I can recovery some stuff from photobucket (which reminds me I have to renew)
itś the wife´s & daughter´s stuff I´m in the dog house for...

I was thinking of doing a raid 5 array with 4x 250 GB drives when this thing becomes a media/server pc

If the painting mantra is practice, practice, practice the computing one has to be backup, backup, backup!

Why do I always get a chill down my spine when I read these kinds of threads and think \"I need to do some backup\" And.. then never do it.
