Also as long as the taxpayers don\'t have to pay the medical bills for overdoses or health problems due to usage or other consequences for your using. (Can\'t keep a job, can\'t pay a house note, etc...)
why? we have to pay for people who do that now, even though it\'s legal

i agree with you though, if it were legalised, the gov/t could tax it to hell and make a ton of cash, make sure it\'s good quality and regulate it better. uit would also take away a lot of power from crims as people would buy it legally, rather than from some dodgy perp

I disagree with that as well.

I\'m a teach to fish kind of guy, our government and from what I\'ve seen of yours, is the give a fish type. It keeps their voter base dependent on them.

Also I pretty much apply this thinking to everything. Gay marriage? Doesn\'t affect me, go for it. Abortion? Doesn\'t affect me, as long as my taxes aren\'t paying for the clinics do what you want. Want to have 8 children out of wedlock? If you can support them without our taxes go for it.

Why should pot be legal? \'Cause it\'s kinda like booze and smokes? Why don\'t we just make those items illegal instead? Why do we have to have everything?

I\'m not advocating for either. Just pointing out....again.....the double standard.

If you\'re not pro pot then what\'s the double standard? Phelps got caught doing something illegal. Booze is legal. If you\'re not srguing that one should be legal then both legal then there really isn\'t a double standard, as far as I see it.

The reason it\'s been so talked about is because of how Phelps\' team has sold him. Charles Barkley got hamemred at a bar, and threw a guy through a plate glass window and it was more of a \"Why would someone fight Barkley\" kind of reaction because of his image. I have no sympathy for Phelps. He\'s not going to swim any worse, and he will swim again, but it sounds like he signed a bunch of deals and made money with his fame selling an image of himself that even HE couldn\'t live up to. That\'s my opinion.

I don\'t think either\'s more or less desirable because of that - alcohol isn\'t man made. it occurs just as naturally as weed does, by fermentation. Just look at wasps getting drunk off fallen apples! lol

Anyway, Peter Tosh says it best.

My mrs (former cancer researcher and now chemo nurse...) could give you a lengthy spiel about this. It boils down to this from what I understand: cancer isn\'t accumulated. It\'s triggered, and a single cigarette can do this. Obviously the more you smoke, the more you roll the dice.

The Phelps thing is a crock. Dude has fallen foul of the gutter press. What he does in his own time is f*** all to do with anybody else, famous or not. Typical of British tabloids to publish something of such mind numbing mundanity. What\'s sadder is that people turn it into something it aint.

\'cept he gets millions and millions to keep a squeeky clean image so he can sell cereal and other stuff. If he wants to partake in \"the Green\" then he can always just lay back in the comfort of his multi-million dollar home (paid for in gross part from maintaining his squeeky cleanliness) smoke up and watch \"the Wall\" on his mega TV, paid for by the sponsors who\'re gonna jump ship.

If you\'re gonna sell yourself and make money from people caring about who they think you are then you\'re gonna take the hit when you betray your own public image.

Snoop Dogg, Keith Richards, Dennis Leary made big selling their talent and image to the world without hiding their \"extra curricular\" activities. It can be done. The Canadian Sow Boarder who was stripped of gold, then got it back, made good without (eventually) pretending he didn\'t do that stuff.

What you and I do is nobody\'s business because WE haven\'t made our personal image INTO a business. Phelps made a dumb mistake doing it/getting caught in the same way an investor can make a bad move and tank millions on one dumb mistake.

Well if the risk of cancer because of smoking gives you the willies, then you should be terrified by the thought of heart- and vascular diseases, and all the other shit that can happen to your lungs like emphysema, chrionic bronchitis and the really bad one: Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease (GOLD) - These ones are the real killers statistically...

With GOLD you spend 10-15 years with the feeling of running up stairs while breathin through a straw, and then you die from lack of oxygen...

i agree. apart from the swimming, being the healthy type dude is what he gets paid so much for (bear in mind all he has to do is swim fast, your missus saves lives and doesn\'t even get paid a fraction of that amount- fair?)

i dont think its the legality he is arguing about but the known side effects of alcohol are a lot worse than pot, yet the gov/t is happy to slap a tax on it and still complain when people do it to excess

hmm sounds like the equivalent of copd in the uk. very nasty, and a good description. not to mention the feeling that you are drowning in your own mucous. likewhen you have a rattle that you cant get rid of no matter how much you fill up. i once watched an old lady (frail little thing, only about 7st) fill up a bowl with thick green sputum in about 10 mins!

UK milkman delivered cannabis with bottles of milk

LONDON (AP) — A British prosecutor says an elderly milkman supplied customers with cannabis as well as bottles of milk.

Robert Holding, 72, delivered marijuana as he made his daily rounds in the town of Burnely, in northwestern England.

Prosecutor Sarah Statham said Friday that Holding offered the drug to elderly customers suffering from aches and pain. She says the customers left Holding notes on their doorsteps to order the drug.

According to Britain\'s dairy industry, around 1.5 million British homes have milk delivered by a milkman. Deliveries have declined over the last 20 years.

Holding pleaded guilty to supplying the drug and was given suspended jail sentence of 36 months.

Bullshit arguement. You\'re basically saying it\'s ok for anyone with a \'bad boy\' image to do illegal stuff? Cobblers.

The hysterical over reaction and moralising make me puke. If sponsors are that bothered about it, they\'ll drop him. End of story.

No, They are expected to do illegal things! The sponsors know about, and maybe also encourage the \"Bad Boy\" image.
Phelps has a \"Clean\" Image and that is what hes sponsors payed for!

Not quite the discussion going on now but I hadn\'t even heard of Phelps\' drunk-driving charges (while underage) until after the pot bust..... in my opinion, drunk driving is a lot more newsworthy (even though it is old) than a slightly more recent bong hit.
