Double Twist Barbed Wire

Hi Einion,
it\'s never too late,
I had seen that technique, in the article Dominus Ex Machina wrote, and it\'s great for making simple barbed wire on a smaller scale

I was trying for a more realistic \"look\" for somewhere around 40+mm, but then again there\'s always \"artistic licence\" to use it with whatever you want.
I haven\'t taken any measurements so it\'s not to any scale, I just went with what looked right to me, using what I had available

Yeah I am doing them individually, using the loop method would have resulted in excessive waste

I\'m a bit hesitant at cutting the barbs at an angle, the bloody things are sharp enough as it is, mind you I could always fence off my tomatoe plants with it to try and keep the slugs off them lol

have had a go. wire is too thick and i find the pointy bits keep slipping. like you said though, bloody sharp!

Tim, try it with some florist from Hobbycraft, that comes in a variety of different thicknesses

yeah they will move a little especially if the main wire vibrates a bit

first time I saw that method was in Military Modelling in about 1981.....\"Stan Catchpole\'s Modelling Workshop\" - genius articles they were. He was really Bryan Fosten IIRC - sure Einion will sort me out on that front.
I used it to do the barbed wire on the Vostroyan Standard Bearer for the CMON \"charity\" Vostroyan regiment. However I was far to lazy to write an article

once I got into the rhythm so to speak it doesn\'t take that long to do,
Actually it\'s quicker to do than explaining how to do it
Took about 20-30 mins to do 500mm/50cm

make sure you have plenty of plasters handy lol
If you used a thinner wire you could \"scale\" it down by moving the barbs closer together too

Because you have the time and not the money? Why do people always want to throw money at something that could be done with a little bit of effort and work for no money? Hell why, even make barbed wire, why not just buy the stuff from Forgeworld. I wish people would stop worshipping money, and try doing things for themselves. I have many bad cat5 cables and EIDE cables, etc. Why buy wire when I can use what I have rather than throw away perfectly good wire just to buy some that I don\'t have to remove the sheathing of. Not to mention that wild hair up your butt making you awake at 2am and not wanting to go to the store, but make something and just look for things around the house to work with.

Wow. Ok, well, my response would have to be: Why don\'t you mine some minerals and smelt some wires to use? And why don\'t you use photosinthesis to turn the suns rays into carbohydrates? What\'s with all your money wasting eating? What is THAT about!?!?

Plus, the wires without the plastic coating are cheaper. Even if you have a bunch of coated wires around the house, their \"value\" is far greater than the stuff I suggested using. Plus your time does have a value, even if you don\'t think so. So...yeah, if you like doing it that way, I\'m not trying to stand in your way. My question was rhetorical. I should have said \"does everyone know you can get wires for a buck or two?\" instead. I apologize.
