Bob love the nids. The purple is working and making them menacing but I love most the shine you achieved on the black exo skeleton parts. Makes me think of the Alien films.
I am working on the claws, going for red-purple instead of the blue-purple of the carapace. I also tried stippling the green on the tongue for the "acid maw". Finding it hard to create a good acid-coated tongue effect...
Finally finished up these genestealers! Didn't go with pink or orange highlights, but maybe will try next time. I thought the yellow would "pop" more than it did. (The Infestation of Drashin pitted genestealers vs. Imperial Fists...)
Cool. I think the yellow looks good. Nice color combination with the grey and the purple (the purple isn't too loud, nor is it too dark). Only thing that I would have looked at to round out the color choice, is to find some way to use yellow toned browns on the platforms; but then again, I'm still learning these things myself.
I've been tempted to try some metal pieces...is this your first 'bout with them? What do you think so far, since you can compare the plastic mold vs. the metal of the same character? I'm excited to see what you do with this set.
The plastic figs have thinner and sharper tongues and claws, but I like the character in the old minis. Plus there's a little more detail in the carapace and the backs on the metal minis.
There was one mini that was missing an arm though, so I'm going to start with that one to try out a color scheme. Probably will use the old school blue and purple theme...
