Lets not throw a spanner in the works now its come to far to start having doubts now. I know money is the most important factor here but this goes deeper than that, most people have most likely donated already so surely whatever is raised here is going to be a extra bonus.
I understand the point that this may not be the quaranteed way to raise the most money but look how its bringing people together, its ashame it takes such an awful event to do this but unfotunately thats just human nature.
Edit- Oh yes TAB Studio its ok to use my avatar:D

The way I see it is that everyone involved has had a chance to talk and the time for debate is over.

At this point let the leaders lead, let the painters paint, and let the combined good will of everyone involved speak for itself.

I don\'t think I or anyone who has or will directly contributed money to the tsunami will change their mind and not contribute because they\'re involved in this, this is in addition, and it gives a way for those otherwise unable to help a chance to give what they can.

Every great idea has 1000 reasons to never be tried, but it is the people that ignore every one of those reasons and push ahead regardless that makes changes in the world. This is a risk, and it could fail horribly, we could all be waisting our time and money, but also, maybe we will accomplish some special. That maybe is enough to keep me involved.

I understand your points Reverend and I actually agree with you, they are thoughts/fears I have also had but decided to ignore and take the chance anyway.

So basically, I\'m saying if you\'re not picking up a brush for this project it\'s 100% understandable, but just don\'t get in the way of those who risk to try.

Well said and I agree. So what is the news from GW?

P.S. Thanks Eric for helping me with my camera.

I have to say Reverend that when I initially read your first post and then your additional ones, I was gnashing my teeth to tear you a new one here in the forums.

I personally have made a financial donation. Whether I do more or less isn\'t for you or anyone to judge - simply put, if I want to sit on my wallet and watch TV and forget about it, I will and I don\'t expect to be judged by anyone, least of all you.

But that\'s not the case, I\'ve made my monetary donation, and now I\'m donating my time and possibly more money on a project that frankly \'makes me feel good\'. Whoops, I\'m going to hell for doing something I want to do because it makes me all warm and fuzzy and has the added affect of helping someone else.

Seriously, I hold you no ill will, but I believe EricJ\'s statement above pretty much states my feeling upon it more or less.

Anyone seen Kant\'s categorical imperative (no idea if that the correct translation of \"kategorischer Imperativ\") around here?

Kant developed it in his \"Fundamental Principles of the Metaphysics of Morals\" (1785) and his \"Critique of Practical Reason\" (1788). I\'ll let everybody check that up with Google ;). And please, no debates on that subject here :).

EricJ, who have I got in the way of? I\'ve said good luck and I sincerely hope it works. It\'s just that the initial objective was raising funds for a cause. If there are more simplistic methods of obtaining a donation (and not leak money out to other organisations), wouldn\'t that be better? It\'s still an artistic contribution if you painted pre-owned pieces. That\'s my point. Still, I hope you people get a good wad, because no matter what is said about homeless people, picnic hampers and whatever, the important thing here, short of going out and helping, is donating hard cash to get things happening. That can still be done the way you guys are doing it, but I questioned the method, not the sentiment (though I don\'t hold with creating good vibes in the group to benefit tsunami victims....that\'s hippy talk lol).

Frustrated Father, I\'d suggest you read my messages here as what they are, not as a contrary standpoint. I\'ve been around here for a while and I may have pissed some people off in the past. However, most people will know me for what I am, and that\'s a normal guy looking to clarify a point and perhaps improve the outcome in physical terms, not esoteric terms.

Good luck, and stop railing against me (your last post was quite direct and I dislike the attitude it showed towards me) for thinking some improvements could have been made to the process you have undertaken. I was just trying to help.

And I wasn\'t judging you either. That ain\'t my job. Read the post again.

Duende, I can\'t be doing with responding to you in full other than to point out that money is actually VERY important right now. Simple. Otherwise good luck and I hope it goes well. I didn\'t offer my original post as an argument against doing anything creative. Read it again.

If I were a mod I\'d be closing down this thread right now. If we are going to get on with it, the time for argument is over. Rev has explained his actions a number of times and is entitled to his opinions. he has wished us luck and is letting us get on with it. The most productive thing for us to do is just that.

OK, so where do we stand?
1. Anyone wishing to get involved is emailing Tammy witht heir details so we know who and what to send to people
2. We have discussed and decided on a colour scheme which is the GW Ogre flesh colours I mentioned earlier (and that will be on TABs website soon) with blue tattoos/warpaint
3. We are waiting till wednesday for a reply from GW regarding sponsorship/minis/WD space, but in the meantime I am putting some feelers out to see if i can use some of my old staff contacts to wangle us a cheap army deal. Plus we have the generosity of Vike, DR and many others who have offered to donate minis to the cause.
4. When we know the deal with GW Tammy is going to write an article and send it to Harbinger and Greenstuff is going to translate it into French to send to ravage.
5. TAB is basically in charge of press releases and I think is going to be chatting with FF about it (sorry if this is news to you FF!)
6. Wednesday is the last chance to sign up with your details for tammy. She will then work out who is painting what and will let you know.

Well, thats where we are ;) A lot will happen on wednesday, but thats the way it goes sometimes!

TIME OUT

Lets end the contention here!

Reverend\'s made his point and we\'ve mostly disagreed, and made statements.

I know Reverend of old and respect his point of view and his right to make it.

Let\'s not make a mountain out of a mole hill, and get on working togther on this!

It\'s a winner Tom :D.

Pete, one last thing...I\'m not letting anyone getting on with it. That suggests an involvement! I hope you people do a spiffing job and anyone who has had the displeasure to speak to me in the past must know I\'m genuine. GOOD LUCK!

My God, I wouldn\'t have opened my mouth if I\'d known this were to happen .

lol

Are there any German or Spanish magazines that we can write to? Would somebody be willing to translate it into those languages?

I was referring to the fact that we got down to discussing why we want to help and if we just want a warm fuzzy feeling out of it. Reverend told us what he thinks, and suddenly we feel the need to defend our idea. What I was trying to say was: Let reverend be. He is not trying to impede this thing, he tries to help. Personally, I admit it, I don\'t do it because I care so deeply for the tsunami victims. I do it because it seems a fun thing to do, with the added plus that it might help the unfortunate, those that have lost a lot if not all. Let\'s all calm down, we have already started this thing, I am not going to back out, nobody else is, reverend just said what he thinks, everybody is happy.

Now let\'s all pretend this is a movie and let\'s all put on some montage music ;)

Ah yes, German miniature magazines. I don\'t know any, but I would be prepared to do some translation work if needed. Will ask in some game stores tomorrow...

German magazines? You could check with Holger Schmidt. He writes the fantasy modelling articles in Model Fan.

Spanish? Todo modelismo? It\'s been a while since I was there but perhaps the Spanish members know more. Is there still a French and Spanish dragon magazine?

As to the Harbingermagazine. I dropped them a note on the Creafigs project. Perhaps it\'s an idea to incorporate that project in the article too since they are both forum initiatives by volunteers.

right. My first harrasment email to GW has just been fired off, i\'m hoping this will kick them into action. Like I have stated before Paul Sawyer is in australia at the moment, so he can\'t get back to me, but the UK Events team should be able to make some decisions atleast.

although I don\'t want to open the can of worms again, I would like to state that I have NOT donated any money to the charity. Why not? I need to cough up a large amount of money to be able to move(deposit, first month\'s rent, hire a van etc...). I don\'t have that money yet. i\'m working my arse off to get it, if I don\'t , i might end up without a roof over my head myself. This project will give me the oppertunity(and this is a \'project\') to try to make some money for this cause, even though i have none to give. i understand the opinions of other people, and respect them, but I think that posts to this thread of :\"have you people really thought this through\" at this stage is either too late, or disruptive of the effort involved.

@Mosch : I understood ;). Thanks for volonteering for the translation. Let\'s keep in touch :).

@minimaker : thanks for the magazine references. As far as I know, Dragon Magazine isn\'t edited anymore in France. Good idea for Creafigs :).

Shame. It was one of those which was not just a translation of the US one. Note to myself, need to visit the cellar of Jeux d\'Escartes some time to see which magazines still exist. :) Is Casus Belli still around? Their post-restart website http://www.casusbelli.com only seems to have old news.

Something else. When we are at the point that we are painting, sculpting, etc. I\'d suggest starting a new thread. People who hear of the project will be interesting to see what we do but may not be so interested in digging through 15 pages of discussions and preparations.
