Dreadball Marauder color scheme (citadel)

Hi there,

I would like to paint the Marauders team but I don't like the original color scheme (way too orange).
I changed the color scheme a bit with Photoshop and would like to know what colors and techniques would I have to use to get the new color scheme.

This is the original picture:

This is the color scheme that I would like to get:

I believe that the original red is "mephiston red" (too orange).
The only other red base coat color I know from Citadel that is the closest to what I need is "Khorne Red".
But Khorne red is quite dark. If shaded, it's worse.

This is an example of what "Khorne red" looks like when applied on a model (without any shade):

It looks more likely than Mephiston red for what I need but now I'm stuck with the highlights colors.

Is there anyone experienced enough who would be kind enough to give me an advice?
How can I achieve these results (the red part is the most important one right now but any advice on the green part would also be welcomed )?

Thank you!

i tend to use both khornate red and mephiston red, and finally evil suns scarlet, the method is thinned khornate over black primer, then a 2nd layer to bring up the red a bit more but leaving the darkest shades for the deepest recesses, then do the same with mephiston red, thinned down (quite alot, practically glazing) leaving some of the previous shades on show, then again with mephiston red, then thinned evil sunz scarlet, then pure evil sunz scarlet on the edges, comes up looking like the cloak on this terminator i painted, the photo isnt the best and it has a touch of glare on it but hopefully it shows what i mean

you would probably get better results by blending properly but im still learning lol

sorry for double post but theres also wazdakka red (or something like that) which is like a lighter version of khornate red it leans slightly towards the purpler side of red which makes it a less orangey red, if that makes any sense. You could go khornate to wazdakka, im not sure if theres a 3rd red paint in this case though (and i dont have any examples unfortunately)

If Khorne red is too dark for you, mix it with Mephiston 50/50 and see how it looks. If it's good, basecoat with it, then to go darker take out the Mephiston and use pure Khorne. Then add dark blue or whatever color to the Khorne red for the darkest shadows. To highlight, go more and more to pure Mephiston. Then mix mephiston with Evil Sunz Scarlet, then pure evil sunz.

Thank you very much for your help!
I must confess I still didn't get that red I'm looking for despite your good advices...
It's tricky as it is either too "Khorny" or too "Mephistony".
It drives me nuts but I will find the good mix, eventually.
Thank you.
