1. What paint are you using?
Just your standard Citadel paints and a few Vallejo as well. I plan on getting the full set of VMC because the dropper bottles make them so much easier to use with an airbrush

2. How are you thinning it for airbrushing (denatured alcohol? Airbrush thinner? Do the paints even need to be thinned?)
When I first started I experimented with all kinds of thinners, alcohol, deionised water, etc. At the moment, I just make sure it's well thinned with standard tap water.

3. What pressure are you spraying at?
Depends on the stage of painting. If it's laying down basecoats it's a little heavier (but still not a hard spray) but for the most part, a very fine and controled spray. I have a pretty good quality airbrush which has a funky restriction dial at the back that I can click in and twist back and forth to control the flow more precisely. I'm kinda getting to a point now where I can control it just through feel though. I'm by no means an expert though. Am still getting better with the airbrush myself.

Excellent work on the ships, makes me want to crack open my copy.

What have you been using to paint the bases? Really like the sea effect.

I am glad people like the look of them. I'm growing quite attached to them, which is dangerous with Ebay stuff! Hopefully I'll get myself some pennies. I still have extra sets left to paint for myself, and plan to do some higher quality ships. I've opened a seperate thread in the discuss submission forum for these now they are all done.

I did all of the ship bases while they were on the sprue. Sprayed them black then used my airbrush to work up the blue, begining with Hawk Turquoise and working it up with more white. Once I'd done that, I applied tones of colour across it using green, blue and purple washes with the airbrush. When that was dry I did a light white drybrush in areas to pick out the tops of waves.

I love these so far, the waves/sea is just pure eye candy!
Have to say though, I think you are a brave brave man to paint 2 sets at once!
