Specifically the spherical, cylindrical and cone-shaped varieties. You can mill a lot of pewter off a mini with amazing precision (or make a horrific mistake very quickly if your hand slips!)
Yes, I have one of those. I was expecting them to work well. I wasn\'t expecting them to remove quite so much when my hand did slip. That is quite right. I think my bit might be a bit too big too. The 5/16 work just isn\'t cut out for tight precision work.

It would be easy to talk my wife into us getting one, I married one of those rare women who took shop class and loved it.
We were at Home Depot the other day and we saw this miniature bandsaw, one of the clerks walked by and said, \"She\'ll never let you get it.\"
My wife spun around and said, \"Actually we were looking at it for me.\"
The guy stopped in his tracks, his jaw dropped and he said, \"Can you please talk to my wife.\"lol

i have to say - these look neat. may have to get one as my draper (although very good) is larger and requires a cable. looking at the state of my bedroom - i have to streamline!!

one of the links says that it\'s minimum rotation speed is 5000rpm - would that be too much for a resin mini?

I also like the look of this.

Can\'t find it anywhere in the UK.:(

Anyone know of any idea when it will be available here?

Great find! Thanks, I ordered one from Ebay. Now I just have to hope it arrives after I get home from my current trip so the wife doesn\'t see it first.

I\'m still trying to find one like I had when I was a teen. Hanging motor, flex shaft, and, the big part, a foot pedal to control the speed, damn I loved that thing.
Used it almost daily to clean where people had put to much glaze on a piece before firing and left them with, basically, hanging drops of glass on the bottoms. I miss the thing everytime I work with one since.:(

Its a ploy!!

Dremel only cares about causing blood to run and fingers to get cut! It strengthens their cult!

Run away! Run away!

Blood for the Blood God.

I don\'t understand why people can\'t use their normal Dremels for precise work - is it their size making them hard to hold or the lowest speed setting removing material too quickly?

About bits this former thread might be handy:

These are the gold standard IMO. I used one in jewellery classes in art school and man, there is nothing to compare - you can get them from jewellery-tool suppliers. I think I might have a link, if so I\'ll post it later.

I want one!!!

I actually prefer hand tools with low torque for mini modelling. My current favourite is a battery powered Ryobi. Last time I used my \'man-size\' Dremel the cutter bit in too deeply and the mini was torn from my hands and thrown across the room:wow:

That is wonderful mr. Finn! Just to get a little glimpse into your mini-world is pretty cool!

What figure is that vampire looking fellow, just to the right of the cart.

It\'s a boxed set from \'Alternative Armies\'

I think it was called Graviski Reanimator Unit. It was to do with zombie armies in the Napoleonic Wars..of course:D.

I was chuffed at the time to paint the zombie dwarf assistants as if they were wearing *Marigold* gloves.

Hey! still available apparently..
