Dripping Blood, How to?

I\'ve seen a few models lately that present dripping blood, some off weapons, hands etc. I can imagine some of this is GS, and I read something about PVA Glue.

Does anyone have any Info on how to pull this off?

Or any great examples?

Try some rubber cement and put a small gob on and try to pull it a bit while it\'s still tacky. Paint with a clear red.

There are a couple of ways to do it. I asked primevil as alot of his minis do it but heres a pic of my butcher

Two ways I have done blood on here is.
1. Use a piece of cotton then dribble white glue on it. Build up the layers till you have it looking the way you want. Then paint black and build up color to bllod red. Use a few ink washes to get the color to what you want (I used citidel ink for washes)

2. Dab white glue on blade edge and build up the drip till it looks the way you want and paint as before.

Hope that helps

You can actually mix your paint with PVA glue (Use a cocktail stick or crappy brush - although it will wash off)

But I\'d advise using a much darker colour than intended, as the semi-opacity of the PVA may cause it to appear lighter. Then if you are lucky you should end up with it being semi-transparent - if your PVA is thick enough you can also \"sculpt\" it to some degree (Or you can always add more later)

i am currently trying to sculpt an exploding vampire (yes, i have been watching blade!) and i plan to use water effects and clear plastic to build up the semitransparent structure and then i shall cover it with tamya clear red (the best gore, ever!!)

That\'d make a cool mini.

A vampire disintergrating like in blade.

You could have it half way through disintergration......................if only i could sculpt :(

I have seen people use window colour for blood... you know, that paint you can put on... um... well, windows. It dries to be plastic-like. I have never used it myself though.

That just gave me a flahsback to my early painting days.

I remember trimming the mold lines on some metal mini. Working on a shouderpad or something like that, when whatever I was trimming got cut right off and the xacto blade continued through the mini and right into my thumb.

I remember some of the blood getting on the minis\' sword and thinking, hey, that\'s a way to get realisitc blood. So before \'cleaning up\' I added realistic blood effects to a bunch of 40K chaos warrirors weapons.

I remember laughing everytime someone said that the blood was too dark and didn\'t look realistic.

Definatley wasn\'t the most hygenic way to paint though. I did varnish them all after the blood layer though.

depending how you want it looking long/short drips etc..
I find you can beat Tamiya clear red mixed with vallejo water effects paste..
looks pink when you put it on but dres nice and clear.

This can be simply placed on the part you want blood coming from use an old brush then teased to strands as it dries..

alternatively get some fine fishing line ..or even human hair will work...attach this to the part you want blood coming from and drizzle the mix on it..may take a couple of layers to bild up but looks damn cool.

@Mosch... You mean GLASS PAINT then...? ;) lol

I do, but the stuff is actually named \"Window Colour\" here in Germany, or at least the brand in the art stores around here is.

No, glass paint is paint with which you paint direktly on the glass, and it won\'t get off. Window color is a paint with which you paint on some plasticsheet and after it dried you can just pull it off, and stick it to all glass-surfaces.

take some clear glue used to stick paper and card..the realy chepo stuff...take a cocktail stick or what ever and add a bit of glue to the desired area..let it dry for like a few seconds then tease it around in the shape you want it to be...there\'s nothing worse then thick clotty blood dripping off weapons imo it has to be subtle and less comic like...this glue is thinner then pva and therefore should be easier to use and with better results...have fun!
