Ok heregoes:

At the end of last years GD i asked myself why i thought my Duel entry didnt get anywhere and i concluded it was down to lack of time and thought for this reason i am starting my duel now.

Furthermore i would also like to ask for the help of my fellow CMON\'ers in my quest to get slightly better at a duel.

After thinking for a long time(for i am not used to using my brain)I came up with a basic idea an imperial preacher

I am however stuck on the battle position.I have two main ideas.
10the preache is holding the marine by the neck and is preparing to give him some chainsword action.

the other idea is to have the icon in the priests hand to be blinding/hurting the demon,sort of religious power.

however i am not sure how i would convey this.

What idea out of these two do you perfer or if you have a differant idea i am very willing to hear it to.Also any ideas about the actual making of the duel itself.

The second idea with the holy icon hurting the deam would be perfect for an OSL project (I\'m sure Shawn could help you with that as well).

The only problem I can see with that though is the lack of conversion, which seems to be required to get anywhere in a comp.

That and the doubt that a mear preacher would be able to do a hell of a lot against a possessed space marine in close combat, let alone take him by the neck and get all choppy on his ass.

You know, being as space marines are what, a foot, a foot and a half taller?
And about twice the size, in armour, not that gws sculpt has shown that.....

fair point but hoefully ill try to get the idea acreoo that the priest is being helped by the emporer or something like that.

Or is enraged my the chaos despoiling the holy place....

you also have to remember to make this a \'legal entry\' it needs to be on a 40mm (monster base).

I like the idea of the religious icon doing in the demon (\'\' the power of christ compells you!\'\' -he he!) the pose for the 2 minis you have works ok, but I feel would be more realistic if the posessed were on his knees.

The pose seems kinda perfect to me already. Just have the icon the priest is holding touching the possessed, and flames and smoke coming from the contact point, like the sort of effect a cross has on a vampire.

Lono\'s hit the nail on the head there! on second looks too, if the possessed were kneeling then there would need to be some major repositioning of the priests arm so maybe standing is a better idea!

I\'m still amazed at how fast those stained glass windows got to you!

The idea is cool that your doing (been thinking of something like a duel myself) but the \'holy icon\' dosent quite read. When I first saw the pic of the fellow holding that thing in the demon\'s face my first thought was that he was being pepper sprayed.......Go for the chainsword dude!

Or mabey some sort of fire or lightninig coming off the icon.

but the pose would be much cooler if you that thing in his hand, turn the head a bit to the side and mmake it look like he is punching him in his face!

I dont think it would be to hard to bend his arm slightly to reach the marine i still like the idea as the marine seems to be looking up.

like the idear for the duel - what about lifting the marine slightly of the ground and his arms and legs bend a little backwards (movie ref: stigmata - subwayscene) - kind of the preacher trying to send him back to the vortex and some EVIL power is trying to keep him in \"this\" world.

i\'m not sure that having the knees bent would help but i would say, have the icon glowing as if the very presence of the daemon is counteracting it\'s holiness. kinda like the warrior priest in the mark of chaos trailer

I like the pose as is for the second idea.

I\'d use OSL to show the faith of the emporer cleansing the chaos character. Possibly having the parts where the faith is hitting him burning away.

Convert the chaos mini so bit\'s/chunks are disintergrating from him, with little piles of ash on the floor.

I like the osl idea

i would proberly do the light white to be a representation of the purenes of the priest.

Where the\'light\' of the emporer is touching the marine what do you thik should be happning.I like talions idea but i think it would be very hard to get the idea across.

Also what would you say is better neeling or standing?

floating! You could pin the deamon fella to some terrain or something about a inch (our inch, not a 30m scale inch!) above the ground, and then a slight convo on the other fella so he is pointing up. Then it would look like the light is pushing him up, up, up and AWAY!

yep matty i was thinking about that idea it will be done in a chapel thingy with a wall so it would be pretty easy to so it.

How could i create something like a beam of light going from the artifact as i think that would be cool??

Not sure how to do a \'beam\' but you would have to do really strong OSL with lots of shadows to help it. Take a look at Victorial Lambs stuff as i think she did the SoB flaming the ork dread.

Plus that deamon dude is in a really cool crucifix position, which reflects the religious imagery in the 40K fluff.

How about flattening the marines back against a wall or piece of terrain, making it like the preacher has forced him back against something with his attack.
