Dumb comment of the week. *warning rant*

I\'ve seen some rather dumb comments on here (my favorites being \'OMG THAT IS TOTALLY AWSOME! BEST NMM EVER! THIS IS THE BEST MINI I\'VE EVER SEEN!\' with a score of a 5.

But check out the comment on myChaos Cultist . The score I can care less about, but have you seen a more uninformed comment? Maybe I\'m being overly sensitive. For starters, it\'s red and black.. not white. There is no aryian iconography, historically cults have been wearing robes like these for a long time, and it\'s so clearly.. a chaos model. How many more skulls does it take to make that clear? ;) People don\'t go around leaving comments on roman miniatures who are saluting and say \"Can you say nazi?\"

Other than the fact the figure is weaing a hood, what makes this even remotely look like a KKK member? Is there something I\'m missing?

Possibly a sense of humour/irony? No slight intended Mr Rigger.

Unfortunately this sort of thing occurs on a public forum. The only thing you can do is laugh. Who, when looking at your page is going to take that comment seriously? The response will be, \"Nice mini, dorky comment\".

I suspect Mr pestilence is eagerly anticipating his 12th birthday and who knows, someone might even buy him a book about either the KKK or Chaos Cultists so that in future he will know the difference.

Consider yourself to have scored a point. cos\' now everyone, like myself, will have gone over there and left you a more appropriate comment:D

ps It might not surprise you to learn that his profile says:

\"I\'m an exceptional painter for the my age and for how long I have been painting\".

Nothing like a touch of modesty. I do hope he doesn\'t turn out to be 37!lol

I think I\'m hyper-sensitive after a full day of dealing with idiots - I come home to relax and read up on one of my favorite hobies only to find the idiots have infiltrated my home. I guess what I really wanted to do was play \"lets all point and laugh at the moron\" but I didn\'t want to seem like I was attacking him. (although
I did read his profile and laugh quite a bit. He also has no models posted to back up his claim)

*does the \'I scored a point\' dance* (which is highly efficient.. because I\'m german) ;>

I really do understand your frustration.

I am currently engaged in an exercise which requires me to read every post on every thread on every topic on this site and you would not believe how common your complaint is - and I only started today!!

Having just read the \'Star Wars Kid\' thread, I don\'t suppose there is any chance of you uploading some visuals of your incredibly efficient, \'I scored a point\' dance\' \'cos we could possibly shift some T shirts and make a few bob?

Saint Rigger - being southern, and of German extraction (when you get down to it I come from a long line of small angry border living folk) I can feel your pain - some people just think that a hood makes it a Klansman

Haha! That is really funny.. I posted a rather long reply on the SWK forum, but one of the other forums I\'m on has the submission buttons reversed from what they are here, so I previewed it and moved on, and was too lazy to repost it.

Basically I said that 1) It\'s something I\'m sure we\'ve all done before (and confessed to having done it, and still doing it) and 2) that no matter how bad the talent and action is, when you add in creative editing, great FX and stunning audio (as is the case with the remix 2.0) you can really take something rather crappy and make it spectacular and rousing. Bruckheimer and Bay have been relying on this fact for years.

And this is the part of posting.. vhere ve danse!:bouncy:

But in all fairness - there is something vaguely Klannish about those models - one can\'t help but think of the KKK for a sec. If that robe was white it would be pert near considered racist.

Believe me people can be friggin stupid . . . ;D

man bad guys are pissing me off. the pointy hood is just evil looking anyway but when some ass group uses it it ruins it for the rest of the evil people! and the swastika. bastards took that too. luckily it was thier main symbol and not the iron cross or the eagle since they had the eagle atop just about every pole and buildings with a swastica in it and luckily just about every military uses the iron cross as some medal usually in accuracy. but yeah it does suck when someone doesnt know the GW world at all and they feel like they have to lay some justice down. hell he prolly told his mom. just kick back n relax a bit saint, blo off some steam and maybe toss back some bubbly. but not too much like the crazy stupor going on in the cmoncon room! dont wont a hangover. :|~

I agree with you on this... I can see how someone might see the similarity between this mini and the ol\' Zinger burger.

Don\'t mean to sound rude but hey, at least you got a comment or should I say had one:)

Aw... I missed out on reading the guys comment too. GW have gone for the Klan style pointy hoods for years though. Earliest model I can think of was the Talisman Inquisitor (got one to paint up for a chap) from 1985 (I think it was that early).

Does anyone know if the pointy hood thing is exclusive to the Klan, or has it got more innocent roots somewhere else (like the swastika)?

Just another point on GW iconography etc. The whole 40k Imperium thing is littered with images and icons that could be perceived to be inspired by less than savoury regimes from history.

I\'m not sure about what you mean... Just as the trench-coat mafia of Columbine fame, who wore trench-coats, didn\'t invent the trench-coat, so did the KKK, who wears hoods, not invent the hood, or Spanish conquistadors, who wore shirts, not invent shirts.
So yeah, it has innocent roots everywhere.

If, however, you were referring specifically to this white-pointy design, then forget I ever said anything.

I did read the guys comment earlier and as everyone here says, he\'s just a misinformed idiot who will probably regret his silly little comment.

Now...onto the more important subject of men in uniforms..... :bouncy:

The GW 40K stuff is cool - lots of the uniforms remind me of WWII stuff, big hats, trenchcoats and of course the Orks with their \'piss-pot\' helmets. Just gotta laugh at those lol I don\'t think negatively about the style of these uniforms, they just look great on the models.

Thank goodness my Mum didn\'t have any ideas about this - a KKK fancy dress costume would have been interesting.(sorry, see post on Star Wars kid as a reference!)

the earliest i can think of at the moment in which people used white pointy hats is the catholic or roman catholic church? not just the pope mind you. i think the reason why its a hood is because the kkk wanted to hide thier faces so is that where they got inspiration for thier \"hoods\" as purgers etc?

The main thing with the hood/sheet deal was they were supposed to be ghosts. Fear in the hearts of their enemies and all that nonsense.

As Forrest Gump said...sometimes we all do things that, well, just don\'t make no sense. :)

I\'ve read this whole damn thread and now find out I can\'t read the original comment - what\'s that about?

How come the comment got through - I thought all public comments were vetted before being published?

Also did the original poster pull his own comment or was it censored? (sinister thoughts of big brother)
