Dungeon Floor Bases

Hi there,

I have miniatures that are already epoxyed into their slotta bases. Is there a technique to mold a dungeon floor base around the mini in this situation?

Thanks

That shouldn't be too hard, a very thin layer of filler over the base then impress the lines for the stone edges into it as it goes off, remember in this scale the edges would be very shallow.

just flatten a very thin layer of greenstuff on to the base and smooth it out. press a textured object (like a rough rock) gently on to the surface (wet it with water or oil first). once that is done, simply grid out some flag stones with an exacto knife. bam, instant dungeon floor.

dang it tercha, beat me to it.

How likely is the green stuff to come off in time?

Also, it seems my epoxy job didn't work too well. I pulled one mini right out of its base. I mixed it well. Any idea what might have went wrong? What do you use to seat the mini?

Pretty unlikely.

I was actually going to ask if it was possible to pull 'em off the bases! You can add a thin layer of putty or whatever to simulate flagstones but the results will be better if it's done with the mini off, since you can apply a thicker, more even, layer.

Some plastics resist the bond of epoxy because they're so smooth. Does it pull away from the mini and the plastic of the slotta base about as easily?

Epoxy is a much better choice for this than superglue though (which people do also use) because generally it's tougher and more resistant to knocks.

did you leave any room between the base and his feet? If not, you're going to have to paint the floor. Building up a layer of putty/greenstuff/etc. will make it look like his feet are sinking into the stone floor.

its possible to avoid that effect with a very thin layer. all in all its good they come off the bases though, now you can give 'em a properly made base.
