Dwarfs

I\'m looking for a good colour to use as the cloth on my dwarf army.

The army is mainly dark iron metals with small amounts of dulled gold/bronze.

I feel i need a good colour to bring out the cloaks, cloth, shields, etc.

People have a favourite colour for dwarfs ? (no particular dwarven hold).

I like using mostly leather colors, with an occasional deep red or Shadow Grey. It keeps them looking gritty and dirty, the way dwarfs should be :)

Green and white look really sharp ranked up. I favor low saturation greens but a deep forest green works with true metallics and white accents just as well. It\'s a pretty forgiving color to work with too.

Also, there are a ton of good greens out there so you don\'t have to take much time mixing. Very nice when painting for an army.

Here\'s some I did up for a WHFB army.

WHFB Dwarfs from the Skull Pass box set. Painted to table top standard, only.

That helpful at all?

Heres a pic of one my unit champions so far (ignore the base its not done yet).

Its probably the mini i\'m most happy with so far, took me about 3 hours and i\'ve always been more for quick and dirty painting in the past.

I think i\'ll actually take my time with my dwarf army and try and maintain this level for the whole army.

I seem to be getting the hang of the light tent for pics now as well :)

Sweet! Keep them coming.

A couple quick suggestions, if you\'re interested...

Try highlighting your bronze with mythril silver. It will keep the metallic shine while providing a bit of contrast.

Speaking of contrast. A little dark lining between highly visible areas like the border between his wrist and cuff will get the individual areas to pop more. I wouldn\'t go crazy with it given how many models you need to finish for a WHFB army. Still though, a obvious spot here and there will help give you some more contrast.

They\'ll look sharp on the field, Kaine. Enjoy \'em!
