Did you quit working for GW in a store or did you actually work in the EM team??

I think most people on here could say they worked for GW at one moment or another!

You were wasting your life? What an earth are you doing 6 years later, still posting on mini websites about your obveous greivences towards gw and \'Eavy metal?

Why is it that when a few people agree on something it\'s a bandwagon? Also, I think those that have mentioned their personal situations did so because it was relevent to the remarks that were made in regards to supporting their family and their family respecting them.

And also apparantly still painting for a living lol. I dont really see the Bandwagon thing, he posted on a painting forum that painting miniatures for a living was a waste of your life, i think most of the responses are justified and the Eavy metal team have responed composed and not taking offence making him look even worse, and making his points unfounded as most of them support a family and more.

its his sad attempt to defend his point, to counter the comments made with \"congrats for taking the typical approach\"

which is an even more typical response

the best part is we are apparently wasting our lives posting in a useless thread...but we come to coolmini for a reason, because we enjoy our hobby and art

what does a person who considers it a waste of his life do here?

ahhhh i love people like him

However i would like to thank everyone that jumped on this particular band wagon. If you guys really didn\'t agree with me you wouldn\'t have become so defensive and exposed personal situations in order to make your argument more persuasive. Text book. Thanks again guys

Thought i\'d add here that in 2002 i was invited to join the Eavy Metal team after working for GW for 2 years. I quit shortly after realising i was wasting my life.

People didn\'t just gat annoyed at what you said (even though you didn\'t say what a \'satisfactory\' job is), people got more annoyed at the way you gave your opinion. If you\'d be semi nice about it then you would have got a better reaction.

p.s. I do think it\'s a load of bull that you were on the EM team. I mean you usually can back up the claim with some really nice painted models but hey!

I love it! He\'s so upset about something (or everything maybe.... who knows!) that he feels the need to slate people who paint for a living but has a website offering commissions........ just perfect!lol:rolleyes: I bet the EM team are gutted he slipped through their fingers!

To be honest though the guy was just plain rude. It\'s one thing not to like what someone does as a job but it\'s an entirely different thing to insult it.

I didn\'t jump on a bandwagon just that what you said pissed me off as it did everybody else. Your argument was completely invalid thats why i responded.

And if in 2002 you turned down a position because you were wasting your life then why do you still post on the forum and presumably still paint and collect.

People maybe got a little defensive because they have respect for the eavy metal painters ability and that they have turned it into successful careers.

Maybe you gave up the opportunity to join the eavy metal team to earn millions, live in mansions, marry models and drive supercars. But still felt unfulfilled so had to slate some people who love their job

thanks for all the support guys/gals. regardless of some peeps views on our job, this thread was to put the trainee figure painter position out there amongst a community full of figure painters who love their hobby. it seems that given the support we\'ve recieved we are in the right place.

thanks on behalf of EM :)

I think most people especially on this forums will respect what you do alot and it must be great knowing that your work is seen by lots of people all over the world in armybooks ect.

Also do you have to be a member in facebook to see the Eavy metal blog?

I think all thats happened with that guy posting is that the solidity of the community has been shown which is always a good thing.

Yup, there are ways of doing and saying things, and that was most certainly not one of them. I think EM deserve the respect that they get. It isn\'t easy for many people to turn their hobby into a living. I\'d apply like a shot, but I strongly suspect that I\'m nowhere near good enough! lol Ah well, a girl can dream...
