Yup, there are ways of doing and saying things, and that was most certainly not one of them. I think EM deserve the respect that they get. It isn\'t easy for many people to turn their hobby into a living. I\'d apply like a shot, but I strongly suspect that I\'m nowhere near good enough! lol Ah well, a girl can dream...

I\'d say go for it. you\'ll never know until you try. And your stuff is quite nice.

That is a very kind thing to say. Thank you! :)

I\'d love to, but unfortunately if I was successful, GW would have to wait 6 months for me to start and I think even the nicest company (and I have it on good authority that GW is a nice company) would not be chuffed with that. I am actually quite eager to leave here for a variety of reasons, but this is bound about with complications- my notice period here in Germany is huge- 3 months- and I have to give notice so that I leave at the end of a quarter. Currently, I\'m thinking March is looking good (so I\'d give my notice in December). Unfortunately, if I apply and want to leave before then, I have to get my notice in sharpish- before the end of Sep. And then I could leave at the end of December. If another opportunity comes up in the next couple of years, I\'ll definitely go for it- as you say, I have nothing to lose- and in the mean time I can practice. :)

actually that\'s text book defence for when someone randomly stops by and has a go at you on an otherwise friendly forum for no reason

Id say the worst out of the whole situation is this:
The forum community here really dosent want/need to feed off the drama in these threads. Reduce it to PMs and the let mods deal with the shit heads.
No one (i mean me) wants to spend their time reading through a thread and get halfway and realize its just like a teenage drama fest. Get it together and act like the adults you\'re supposed to be.

and, DRINK!:beer::drunk:

Having looked at your gallery...I call bullshit. lol

If I lived in the UK I\'d at least give this a go. Probably not up to snuff with my one Bronze Demon, but you never know. Sounds like a blast.

I paint miniatures full time now .. For commission , for Wyrd and for the wonderful world of ebay..

I consider it a more than rewarding profession and enjoy it constantly..eavy metal would be great and the training as with all GW training will be top notch..They realy are a great company to work for.

I would consider applying but I simply would not be able to relocate but whoever goes for it I wish them the best of luck and hopefully 1 mouthy arsehole who thinks it would be wasting your life doesn\'t put anyone off....

@Amazon Warrior and all others who have said they don\'t think their work is up to scratch then still go for it.. Every guy and Gal in the EM team needed help and training to get to where they are now....

Wow, this thread got a ton of posts overnight! I agree with demonherald, hopefully that person\'s remarks won\'t put anyone off from applying.

Daz, your comeback to him was brilliant! Pure ownage!

Just got my stuff emailed. I have all my fingers crossed! :D

I agree completely - infact, I\'d possibly suggest that more important even than being a master already, it\'s possibly the potential that is more important. I know from experience in other fields that it\'s much more satisfying for everyone to see someone good get brilliant with the right training.

I wish everyone who applies the best of luck (also, it knocks off one more fantastic painter from entering GD, allowing me to dream of getting a demon becoming a little bit closer ;) )

This thread has amused me. lol

I kind of see Multifracture\'s point in some small way - painting for a living is not necessarily going to make you rich and secure your family and future. Aye, people can manage off it, but really speaking it\'s a job that would suit a free and single sort or someone in a simple boyfriend/girlfriend relationship with less worry about 5yrs down the line. Saying that though, it\'s a job that you can look back at and say \"I did it!\" and for that reason alone it would be more than worth it. It\'s a pretty high accolade in our hobby to be an EM member, and job satisfaction is the Holy Grail :D

A note of caution though - I did paint professionally for a year and the improvements were pretty marked. If I carried on at the same pace I\'d love to know where I would be now in terms of skill. However, things went sour: doing what you love day-in and day-out can sometimes have a negative affect, though I should qualify my experiences by explaining that I was working at home, alone. Working as a team would offer an outstanding balance of fun, encouragement and emotional support. Based on that, I\'d urge anyone to who fancies it to pop in their CV and portfolio. If lucky enough to be offered the job, go for it and don\'t look back (and pray that the money is good enough to subsist on, what with the obvious caginess from current EM members...).

Regarding Multifracture\'s posts - he does come across a little bit bitter lol

It does take a certain kind of person to paint all the time and still enjoy it. I\'m very happy that I am able to paint so often (sometimes more than 60 hours a week if I am very busy and on break from school) because I still love every minute of it! Job satisfaction will always be more important to me than money, that\'s why I paint miniatures and canvases! :D

This was the first first ogre i painted for my tournament Ogre Kingdoms army. I used a couple of new techniques - namely adding water to my paints.

I suspect that you were about eight years old in 2002?

Ladies and Gentlemen:

I think that it is time to call a halt on responding to Mr Multifracture. He\'s been shown up enough.

Let\'s be as near Adults as we ever can be. :)
