Ebay and CMON Rating

I think you need to back up a bit. To me, I hardly go from CMON to Ebay directly, whe I\'m on Ebay I see people and Figs I recoginze, but I usually don\'t see their ratings there. I believe that the amount of work and painting technique influences the vote and therefore it is better, it will get more money, but there is no direct correlation of score/price...

I think people on ebay are looking for minis they can use for gaming, and that\'s their primary motivation for buying. So getting a highly regarded paint job might not necessarily be a priority.

Well the answer is yes but it\'s not the CMON rating, it\'s their reputation. Like Veranzi, those guys can ask practically anything on their figs and get it because they\'ve got a reputation for putting out top quality minis with time tested methods. So reputation makes a hell of a lot of difference. As our reputation has gotten better, we get consistently higher bids on our stuff. CMON, however, should be only a tiny, tiny part of a painter\'s marketing scheme. At least if they\'re serious about it.

So yes, it does play a factor because the most expensive figs do NOT go to gamers. They go to COLLECTORS. Now if you want to paint units or something, it\'s a totally different story - then it\'s all about quantity.

I hope that answers your question!

I agree - reputation matters. Sometimes a renowned painter spoils a mini and even then it can reach a high prive for it was painted by XXX.
